18volt LXT lithium-Ion tools are NOT compatible with previous 18v lithium Makita batteries! That was the big mistake that I made. I have the Makita drill and driver set that used the 18v lithium batteries and thought I could just buy this saw ($99) and the batteries I already had would work. That is not the case and added an unexpected headache and expense to my project. I had to go back to the store and buy the LXT battery and charger ($150). If I had known the two batteries were not interchangeable, I don’t know that I would have made the purchase. The saw is heavier then I expected and the blade that came with it, bent easily as I was cutting 1 inch diameter tree roots. I should have done more homework before the purchase.

I love mine! Now I don’t have to wait on my husband to get out the chainsaw, I just do it myself!!!!! Battery last around an hour, takes about 30 mins to recharge. I have 2 batteries so it works out well.

I got this for my Birthday and love it! who wouldn’t be happy about no more cords. lol. I wish Makita would at least throw in a branded tool bag to store and protect the Tool only line up. I give this tool 5 stars cause I know it is what it is and it is great!

First use was to cut down a dead tree. Took three battery recharges, but it did the job, including the trimming the branches/trunks into firewood/kindling pieces. Not an ideal use for this product, but it did the job.Went on to cut conduit, wallboard, and many other tasks. It gets a bit warm after 60 seconds or more of continuous sawing, but it is still working well.Blade that comes with it is cheap. Buy high quality replacement blades ahead of time, you’ll be glad you did.

The LXT tool system is excellent in every way and this reciprocating saw performs as expected. It offers oustanding performance especially for smaller jobs. The best application for these cordless tools I have found is the ability to have high performance and stay safe. I have used the cordless tools everywhere, but I appreciate them the most when working on a pitched roof, or any other place where a cord poses a serious safety risk.Remember, this is not a extreme demolition tool. It is however a great reciprocating saw.Remember, always keep your receipt. Makita has a 3 year warranty on LXT tools and they stand behind their products.

I use this saw for cutting 2 inch pvc pipe, 3/8 inch steel rod and 3/4 inch plywood. It cuts right through it. It will bind up or stop cutting if you do not cut straight or push to hard, but it has great power, precision and variable speed trigger.

I have been plumbing for 30 years and seen the cordless tools develop into what they are today, and i have to say this has as much power as a lot of corded reciprocal saws!! I have a Dewalt 18v sawzall and this saw has a lot more power !! the only other one i have used with this much power is the Milwaukee 18v.I need tools i can depend on to get the job done and this Makita saw is one such tool.

I love my new “toy”! Works as advertised and is built like a tank. I guess it could be a bit heavy if you had to hold above your head or in awkward positions for extended periods… but overall great tool.
