18volt LXT lithium-Ion tools are NOT compatible with previous 18v lithium Makita batteries! That was the big mistake that I made. I have the Makita drill and driver set that used the 18v lithium batteries and thought I could just buy this saw ($99) and the batteries I already had would work. That is not the case and added an unexpected headache and expense to my project. I had to go back to the store and buy the LXT battery and charger ($150). If I had known the two batteries were not interchangeable, I don’t know that I would have made the purchase. The saw is heavier then I expected and the blade that came with it, bent easily as I was cutting 1 inch diameter tree roots. I should have done more homework before the purchase.

The LXT tool system is excellent in every way and this reciprocating saw performs as expected. It offers oustanding performance especially for smaller jobs. The best application for these cordless tools I have found is the ability to have high performance and stay safe. I have used the cordless tools everywhere, but I appreciate them the most when working on a pitched roof, or any other place where a cord poses a serious safety risk.Remember, this is not a extreme demolition tool. It is however a great reciprocating saw.Remember, always keep your receipt. Makita has a 3 year warranty on LXT tools and they stand behind their products.

The tool is rugged, but without a case it is difficult to store.

I had a Dewalt power tool set with a recipe saw in it. It was quit a bit noisier and the battery didn’t last as long. So I sold it and bought the Mikita and am very happy with the performance !!!

I have only been able to use this a few times. But used on metal, wood, and tree branches. This say worked great. No power issues. Worked as well as my corded saw.

I use this saw for cutting 2 inch pvc pipe, 3/8 inch steel rod and 3/4 inch plywood. It cuts right through it. It will bind up or stop cutting if you do not cut straight or push to hard, but it has great power, precision and variable speed trigger.

I love mine! Now I don’t have to wait on my husband to get out the chainsaw, I just do it myself!!!!! Battery last around an hour, takes about 30 mins to recharge. I have 2 batteries so it works out well.

A bit heavy but good for demolition. Also bought combo kit. Use every day.

Easy to assemble and easy to use. Has great power compared to my old corded Porter Cable. Cuts thick branches with ease. I upgraded my cordless drill batteries to the larger ones, so this saw made sense and I’m glad I purchased it. I like the adjustable depth guide so you can use a fresh part of the blade to cut instead of reusing the dull part.

It is so much better than one with the cord, and the battery life is surprisingly long, mine lasted over 4 hours.
