The long 1-1/4 in. stroke length increases cutting efficiency and the refined crank mechanism design minimizes blade deflection and reduces vibration. Convenience features include an LED light to illuminate the line of cut, a retractable tool hook and “tool-less” blade change for faster blade installation and removal. This batter was bought to replace the original battery that quit after two charge phase. So far this one has taken one charge and is working OK. But the original battery went to Makita for replacement and I haven’t received the replacement yet. I would rate higher but so far I am seeing a 25% failure and that is not accecptable.

Home Depot needs to carry the 5A Battery in their stores and not have to order off their website. This battery is so much better than the 3A Batteries they carry in their stores. The physical size of the 3A, 4A & 5A are all the same. Given that fact, why not get the Battery that will last the longest.

I have used all kinds of batteries for multiple brands and systems but none of them compare to the 5a. The star protection keeps you going through the whole job. One 5a battery all day or multiple 3a batteries throughout your day? You decide but I’ll take only one battery for the job any day.

This is a strong recipro saw that runs very smoothly cutting through wood effortlessly. It may be a little on the heavy side, and an orbital adjustment would be nice, if compared to the Rigid 18v cordless, but I decided I needed to have tools using the same battery as my other Makita items. Would highly recommend.
