Makita Sub-Compact gives users 12-Volt handling with 18-Volt performance and compatibility with the world’s largest 18-Volt cordless tool system. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt LXT system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries. Makita 18-Volt LXT batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. I’d been looking at this tool for a while. I’ve got the bigger single battery version and have loved that for a couple years. I watched the video on AvE where he tore this down. The tool even impressed him! When you need a reciprocating saw for this tight spaces, this is your tool. If you were to only buy one for those occasional jobs, this would suffice for sure. Just buy it already…

The saw is nice and light. It’s compact enough to get it into tight spots. As you add pressure to the trigger, it seems to stair-step up the speed, rather than having a nice progression of increased speed. That’s not much of a problem. It seems great, but not in too heavy duty applications.
