This thing is great! I have been waiting for the improved version of the Makita Bluetooth radio to come available. I’m already invested (happily so) in Makita’s 18V battery platform, and I like to listen to music, podcasts and audiobooks while I work. I purchased two of the earlier XRM06B Bluetooth models, and both had problems in the main rotating switch within the first week of use, so I decided to wait for an improved model.Although the size is very similar, this new XRM09B model is far superior in every way. The feel; it’s much more robust and not plastic boom box feeling. It’s like high-end stereo component; nice aluminum roll bars with clean but brawny rubber over molded protection; super nice fit and finish. I’m low tech but found it very easy set up and make the BT connection and operate and adjust. Great sound quality; down firing sub woofer and opposite side firing speakers – *way* better sound than previous models. EQ presets, as well as adjustable and storable EQ preset, AM/FM tuner with presets, clock, alarms, usb charging, 5mm input, 18v/12vLXT and 120AC powered. The AC adapter can be stored in the Battery compartment. It looks really nice too, if you set it in your living room, it doesn’t look like you’re storing your tools in the house. Great sound and build quality, just the right features with corded/cordless flexibility. I’m super impressed and happy with this purchase.

Had the older version without subwoofer. Sound quality was very good, but volume level was disappointing. This one is mildly improved with better bass response. It isnt super loud, but definitely louder. Only real downside is that it still doesnt charge batteries when plugged in.

Great product only wish it would charge a battery and could be a little louder but over all I am satisfied

Sounds very good. Doesn’t compete with the $240 dollar dewalt but it does sound good. Wish it was a little bit bassier.
