The 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless String Trimmer (XRU02Z, tool only) is a versatile solution for landscape cutting and trimming, but without gasoline or a cord. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt LXT series, the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18-Volt Lithium-Ion battery. The Makita 18-Volt LXT battery has the fastest charge time in its category, so the battery spends more time working and less time sitting on the charger. The XRU02Z delivers 7,800 RPM and up to 45 minutes of run time on a single charge of the 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 3.0 Ah battery (sold separately). It has several advantages over gas powered trimmers: the XRU02Z has zero emissions and reduced maintenance, with no need for gas or oil. For users, the tool is always ready to use: simply load a fully-charged 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion battery and get to work. Versatility features include a telescoping shaft to adjust the length of the tool, a 180° rotating head with 5 adjustable positions, an adjustable loop handle and more. It weighs only 6.4 lbs. with battery (sold separately).

It’s not the most aggressive trimmer out there but that’s what I like about it. It doesn’t tear up posts and paint and bark. Works well enough and is easy to handle. It can be easily adjusted for any user… If you need more than a light trim, get a gas trimmer.

I use this with a 4.0amp battery. Its underpowered. I replaced the string with a heavier duty string and it helped a little bit. I guess convenience isnt always better. Ill be switching to a gas powered trimmer with a thicker, heavier duty line. Love my makita, but not this one

Ism still deciding on how I feel about the unit. It is very handy and easy to use, much easier than my gas units but the cord reel that dispenses the string cutting cord to cut the weeds is hard to get out. I am still using the original cord load so after I reload it I am hoping it will work better.
