The efficient brushless motor delivers up to 6,000 RPM for faster cutting. The XRU11Z is equipped with Automatic Torque Drive Technology, which automatically shifts from 4,000-6,000 RPM depending on the density of the application. There are three speed options (4,000/5,000/6,000 RPM), allowing users to match the speed to the application. Additional features include a full 11-3/4 In. cutting swath, an easy-loading bump-and-feed trimmer head, and reverse rotation that allows users to quickly clear the head of entangled grass and weeds. This tool is amazing! I’ve owned it a few months now and could not be happier. It easily outperforms the Black & Decker 40v Max string trimmer I owned previously. Due to uneven terrain and rocks, I actually use a string trimmer to mow my entire yard.With the 4ah battery I am able to complete my back yard on a single charge. The battery charges quickly without a cool down period thanks to the LXT charging system and I’m able to move on to the front yard in a matter of minutes. With the B&D, I could only to trim one half of each yard between charges and the battery had to be placed in the fridge to cool down before charging, which took multiple hours. I’ve also found the Makita does not use/waste trimmer line too quickly. The string loading is much simpler as well. It can be restrung with any brand line as long as it is the proper size. My old B&D had to be loaded with their specific spools which were only sold at certain stores.I recently used the Makita to clear an extremely overgrown alley that would have bogged down even a push mower and it operated flawlessly. I can’t recommend this string trimmer enough, especially if you already have a tools, batteries or chargers in the 18v LXT line-up.

Trimmer has more than enough power to handle a fairly good sized yard with many flower beds to trim around. I have other Makita cordless tools that use the 18 volt lithium battery but with 3.0Ah. The Trimmer will work with those batteries too without a noticable drop in power.

Great tool to add to my Makita Cordless collection. I am able to mow my lawn, take a battery out and pop it in the trimmer, edge the lawn, then take both batteries and put them in my blower. In 30 minutes I was done with my backyard (which is about 1800/SF). No cords, no gas, no loud noise. Easy Easy Easy!

The unit arrived with all items zip tied to the shaft. The lack of a box is interesting. Putting the unit together could not be completed due to a missing part: the receiver washer assembly. Called a representative two Saturdays ago. Have not heard back with a resolution.
