The string trimmer is ideal for precision trimming and edging. It features an efficient Makita BL Brushless Motor for longer run time, increased power and speed and longer tool life. The kit includes an efficient charger and an 18-Volt LXT 4.0 Ah battery which reaches a full charge in only 40-minutes the fastest charge-time in the category for less downtime and increased productivity. The efficient brushless motor delivers up to 6,000 RPM for faster cutting. The XRU12SM1 is equipped with Automatic Torque Drive Technology, which automatically shifts from 4,000-6,000 RPM depending on the density of the application. There are 3-speed options (4,000/5,000/6,000 RPM), allowing users to match the speed to the application. The easy-loading bump-and-feed trimmer head is compatible with 0.08 in. or 0.095 in. line and offers reverse rotation allowing users to quickly clear the head of entangled grass and weeds. The XRU12SM1 features Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). This trimmer is far superior to the Black&Decker I have been using. Even when new the B&D trimmer required two batteries to get the job done. The Makita trimmer takes care of the job with plenty of power to spare.

I put this on my weed eater after it ran out. It appears to work very well. I am not sure how it compares to the .090 that I was using in regards to how long a spool will last, since there’s not much time to provide this review to give a comparison. However, I did not have to do a lot of feeds when using it to edge the drive way and curb. Seems pretty durable though.

I have tried a few different trimmer lines with my Ryobi cordless trimmer. This line is great. Starting with the shape of it, a star pattern, right down to its toughness and packaging, this line far outperformed any other ones I have tried. Its extremely easy to pull out enough line to fill your spool without having to fight the package. Its lightweight yet very durable. The pattern its moulded in cuts right thru even the thickest weeds and grass.

So we have a Ryobi electric weedeater. I’ve been using the standard line for years. We got a hold of some of this Makita trimmer line to try it out.WOW! Much to my surprise, it worked so much better! The rpms of the weedeater improved greatly. Also, the cut was much more precise when cutting the thicker weeds. We are a fan of this weedeater line and will be using it from now on.

First time using Makita twisted trim and it is really a high quality product. In the past I’ve used just regular style string and I would usually have to bump bump bump the feeder constantly to keep the string the proper length, meaning using a lot of product that would keep breaking causing a lot of waste and pieces all over the lawn. The Makita line is super strong and I hardly had to bump at all, super happy with its performance.

This trimmer was easy to assemble and has plenty of power. Our old cheap trimmer took 2 batteries ( if they were fairly new and you were quick) to trim a one acre lot. This trimmer does it on a half a battery. I would give it five stars but the string shield is far too small. The old trimmer covered half the circle that the string turns in. Over the winter I’ll take the guard off the old trimmer and put it on this new one. I also liked the idea that the battery on this trimmer will work on most all their other tools.
