The string trimmer is ideal for precision trimming and edging. It features an efficient Makita BL Brushless Motor for longer run time, increased power and speed and longer tool life. The kit includes an efficient charger and an 18-Volt LXT 4.0 Ah battery which reaches a full charge in only 40-minutes the fastest charge-time in the category for less downtime and increased productivity. The efficient brushless motor delivers up to 6,000 RPM for faster cutting. The XRU12SM1 is equipped with Automatic Torque Drive Technology, which automatically shifts from 4,000-6,000 RPM depending on the density of the application. There are 3-speed options (4,000/5,000/6,000 RPM), allowing users to match the speed to the application. The easy-loading bump-and-feed trimmer head is compatible with 0.08 in. or 0.095 in. line and offers reverse rotation allowing users to quickly clear the head of entangled grass and weeds. The XRU12SM1 features Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). XPT is a protective seal inside the tool and is engineered for improved operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components. No more electric cords or gas…what a concept. Love it, works like a charm. I use two changes of batteries for an acre of trimming. A little long on the shaft, but once you get the balance of it it seems pretty light and effortless. Question that one might ask.. is there or should there be a shoulder harness? That would make life and use of my new Makita utopia.

I have solar use it only three time since purchased, it work very smooth compare to other brand that I have tried before this. It is light and that allow for better control, but suprisignly with it light weight it operate so stable and enough power to do any average size yard. The 4Amh battery is a big plus, I have finish all of my yard work and the batter is still 90% full. I guess this trimmer will have no issue running a very large yard or three to five home in one charge.Highly recommended!

Product works as expected! One battery lasts long enough to do my whole yard. Consider your height when purchasing this model. I am 5’ 10” and wish I had purchased the one with the curved shaft. It would probably be more comfortable to use.
