With zero emissions, lower noise, and considerably less maintenance, this cordless string trimmer is a welcome solution for landscapers. Its compatible with Makita’s fast-charging 18-Volt LXT batteries, and features an efficient Makita BL brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. The efficient brushless motor delivers up to 6,000 RPM for faster cutting. The XRU13Z is equipped with Automatic Speed Change technology which automatically shifts from 4,000-6,000 RPM adjusting the speed and torque depending on density of application. There are also 3 speed options in manual mode (4,000/5,000/6,000 RPM), allowing users to match the speed to the application. Users will get up to 38-minutes of run time on high setting and 103-minutes on low setting under load using an 18-Volt LXT 5.0Ah battery (sold separately). Additional features include a full 11-3/4 cutting swath, an easy-loading bump-and-feed trimmer head, and reverse rotation that allows users to quickly clear the head of entangled grass and weeds. The trimmer accepts industry standard M8x1.25 LH spindles.

Honestly, this is the only one I’ve ever owned. While I mowed growing up, my dad always did the trimming. So, I really don’t have a comparison. I can say that I love the ease of use as an electrical trimmer. I already the battery system for my impact driver, drill, jig saw, etc. so this was perfect. I use my 4amp batteries and have never had one die while using this for the whole yard. I love the easy on/off. It’s not loud. It’s cut everything I have used it on without problem. I like it and recommend it. If you have used a gas trimmer before, then I don’t know if you will like this because I just don’t know how it’ll compare. But, I like it.

Arrived as stated. A little difficult figuring how to put the cutter head in place, but once I re-read the instructions it went on. Now I’ll wait for Spring to see how it operates. Balance the great. Love the fact that it’s batteries are interchangeable with other Makita tools!

Love Makita tools and this is great quality so far. I’ve only used it a couple of times and the lesson to pass on is that you must follow the instructions to tighten the reel securely or it’ll wind itself off every time you ease off on the power. I do miss the power of my gas weed eater but so tired of dealing with ethanol gasoline eating the fuel lines, carburetor parts, etc. It’s an acceptable trade off.

Fantastic, quality trimmer. Plenty of power, I was actually impressed! Useful speed modes and Auto option that senses/adjusts for power demand. Adjustable curved shaft perfect for me (5’4″ tall). Using a 5.0Ah battery, cut 4x at full power for 15-20 mins per cut, and I still have 75% battery life.

I have been wanting to go cordless for a long time This makita trimmer works with all my other makita toolsI thought the blade that cuts the trimmer string cuts it too short So i bent it back a bit in the vise so my string line is longer
