The 18-Volt X2 LXT Lithium-Ion (36-Volt) Cordless 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw (model XSH01PT) is the world’s first cordless 7-1/4 in. circular saw powered by two 18-Volt batteries. The XSH01PT provides the performance of a corded saw without leaving the strongly-preferred 18-Volt platform. Longer Run Time- The Makita-built motor delivers 4,800 RPM for fast cutting and ripping. In performance testing the XSH01PT/Z made 250 cuts in 2×4 lumber per charge, which is up to 2.5-times more cuts per charge than the Makita 18-Volt Cordless 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw, model BSS611Z. More Capacity, Fast Cutting- With a 7-1/4 in. blade the XSH01PT/Z has a cutting capacity of 2-5/8 in. at 90°. In side-by-side testing the XSH01PT/Z exhibited corded power and speed, cross-cutting a 2×10 in only 1.5 seconds and matching the cutting time of the Makita 5007F corded circular saw. More Features, Less Weight- Model XSH01PT/Z has a reinforced magnesium base for added durability and weighs only 10.1 lbs. (with batteries). The saw includes 2 LED indicators that monitor battery charge status and temperature. Additional features include an electric brake for maximum productivity, rubberized soft grip handles for increased comfort and a built-in dust blower engineered to clear the line-of-cut for improved visibility.

This saw works great for straight cuts. Ideal for on-the-job long panel cuts, trim, 2X dimensional, let-ins for diagonal bracing, etc. Falls flat for bevel cuts and gets hung up 80% of the time, even with 3/4 in. pine trim. I wouldn’t try using it for stuff thicker than 2 X and PT.

I’m a commercial finish carpenter and I’m pretty demanding on a circular saw. I was worried that a cordless saw wouldn’t have the power to cut the materials I need. I saw the dual battery system and decided to give it a try and it delivered. This saw has done everything I have wanted it to do and done it well . If your looking for a saw that is portable and has the power to get the job done I highly recommend the Makita 36 volt 7/14 cordless circular saw.

Works better than expected, don’t understand the bad reviews on the saws ability to cut through lumber, cuts through pressure treated 2×12 with hardly any effort. Some people just can’t properly use a circular saw.

The saw uses 2 – 18v batteries so it is a little heavier than the construction grade cordless I had stolen but a little lighter than the worm drive plug in saw I have. The motor will cut through studs, plywood and white-wood, bogs just a bit when it encounters a knot. I have not yet used it on a long enough job to run the batteries down.

Great saw with the power to compete with corded saws. It is heavy with the two batteries attached. Also, the blade that is included is extremely thin – probably to enhance battery life since the kerf is smaller. However, if you are not dead on the cut with the saw the blade will bind.
