The Makita BL Brushless Motor is engineered for longer run time, increased power and speed and longer tool life. The 18-Volt LXT 5.0Ah battery provides 65% more run time per charge than the 3.0Ah battery (BL1830), yet it charges in only 45 minutes – the fastest charge-time in the category – for less downtime and increased productivity. For added convenience, the batteries feature an on-board LED charge level indicator. The XSH03T features Extreme Protection Technology (XPT), engineered for increased dust and water resistance for operation in harsh job site conditions. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.

This is an excellent saw. It feels very sturdy and well built and is light enough to use for hours on end. I put at 5 ah battery in and cut treated lumber for a deck build for almost two days without a recharge. It’s taking some patience with the left hand blade, but a great saw overall!

The new brushless motor is powerful and has a lot of torque for thicker cutting jobs. Features are great and rafter hook is good as well as front and rear cutting guide slots. Visibility of the blade cutting area is good from both sides left or right. With the new brushless technology power is better, and run time is extended. The tilt adjustment to angle the blade features a small lever that moves a two way stop. In one position it allows a full travel to 50 degrees of tilt, and in the other position it blocks travel to 45 degrees. In the 45 degree position there is a adjustment screw to fine tune the 45 degree angle and also a screw for the 90 degree angle. All in all, a great new saw that both the professional and home owner will like.

Great tool. Light and easy to maneuver. Doesn’t come with a battery is why I gave 4 stars. It comes with a general purpose carbide blade. I was cutting PVC exterior 1×4 trim. It cut through with no slow down, no melting. Great tool buy with confidence
