Makita created a new class in cordless with 18-Volt LXT Sub-Compact tools. Makita Sub-Compact gives users 12-Volt handling with 18-Volt performance and compatibility with the worlds largest 18-Volt cordless tool system. The XSH04ZB is engineered for cutting and ripping applications and is ideal for any contractor seeking a more compact cutting solution for framing, roofing, formwork and more. The Sub-Compact 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw has a compact and ergonomic design at only 10-5/8 in. and 6.4 lbs. (with 18-Volt LXT Compact 2.0Ah battery, battery and charger sold separately). As you get older a lot of tools get heavier and that is the reason I bought this saw. After using it some I just love it. It cuts very good, has power, lite, all adjustments are easy. The brake is a great feature along with the light on it.

Perfect size. Great saw.

Quite good for crosscuts and plywood use, but bogs down when trying to rip 2x lumber.

Don’t like the blade on the right side. Cut good on 2×4 and also on plywood.

Excellent little circular saw. The blade is very nice and I especially love the dust collection ability to where you can hook a vacuum to it to keep your garage or workshop sawdust free.

Very nice little saw. Didn’t get the amount of cutting with a 2 amp battery that the manufacturer’s description led me to believe, but switching up to 3 amp batteries was adequate,

Works freak for cutting down sheet goods and is very lightweight.

great compact lite saw. But… no guide, no hookThis is a “Left Handed” saw. Blade is on the right side of motor and trigger, meaning it is difficult to see the guide thru the motor and your right arm. And how do you grasp the release lever for blade safety cover, when you are holding saw with right hand? Reach over your right arm with your left to grasp the release, which is on the right side of the saw? Very awkard. Gonna take it back.

I was a little surprised with the two amp hour battery Your advertisement online showed all the devices using the 4.0 amp hour battery and I was assuming I was getting to 4.0 and power batteries And the description did not specifically say what amp hour batteries were included so I went by the picturesMy fault need to read Small print

I didn’t realize this was a left-handed saw and had to return. Somewhat disappointing , because I got the rest of the Makita subcompact line. Evidently Makita doesn’t sell a right-handed version in the subcompact line.

It was everything that was advertised

Only annoying thing is the tilt feature has two sets of retention.

Light, handy for 70-80% of my saw needs.Runs a long time on a charge, handles long cuts well. Saves me time on renovations that do not have available power for plug in saw, plus you are never chasing a plug.

Excellent saw for DIY user. Light weight and easy to handle. It is quite. It is designed for a right handed user. I had a corded saw that was for a left handed user. It was difficult to keep level through out the cut for a right handed person. It also discharged the saw dust on to the user. After nine years I final decided to use a cordless and though the 6.5 inch would work for around the house use, Most of the cordless 6.5 circular saws are designed for left handed people and when I found this Makita I gave it a try. I have only had it for a few weeks of use but I am pleased with the saw. No dislikes so far. It meets all of my expectations (exceeds expectations on noise-for a saw it is quite).

I love the cordless ability. Great for quick jobs

The saw, so far, is a convenient size, comfortable weight, and has sufficient power for work I wish to get to quickly.

The only gripe or really downside that really doesn’t affect me as a new circular saw owner, is that most saws.. are on the right side of the handle. But this one is on the right side meaning if you’re left handed you’re golden. But as a right handed user I didn’t mind this all too much since I’ve never really used one until this one.
Ocie Gusikowski (verified owner) –
does the job perfectly
Toney Reichert (verified owner) –
Doesn’t come with a included adjustable guide like every other Makita saw. What were they thinking?

Great Saw…excellent cutting power and great battery life with the brushless motor.
