Makita is a pioneer in brushless motor engineering, battery technology, and miter saw innovation and has combined this expertise in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless 10 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw (tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). It’s powered by two 18V Lithium-Ion batteries for 36-Volt power and performance, but without leaving the 18-Volt LXT platform. Makita brushless motors are engineered for up to 50% longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. The XSL06Z has an efficient BL Brushless Motor that delivers up to 4,400 RPM for fast and efficient cutting, with Automatic Speed Change technology to adjust cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. The XSL06Z has a unique 2-steel rail sliding system design that offers single slide-glide operation for smooth and dead-on accurate cutting right out of the box, as well as a reduced overall footprint that allows the saw to be positioned flush against a wall. The innovative direct-drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity (5-1/4) and crown molding cutting capacity (6-5/8 nested), the largest in its class. It will also crosscut a 4×12 at 90°. The saw miters 0 to 60 left and right, with positive stops at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 and 60 (left or right). The bevel lock is located in the front of the saw for easy access and quick adjustments from 0 to 48 (left and right).
- Powered by 2 LXT batteries; X2 LXT technology delivers more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord
- Makita built electronically controlled BL motor delivers 4,400 RPM for faster and smoother cutting
- BL brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life
- Automatic speed change technology adjusts cutting speed and torque during cut for optimum performance
- X2 LXT technology delivers up to 334 cuts per charge in 2×4 SPF and up to 192 cuts per charge in 2×12 SPF lumber using two 5.0Ah batteries (batteries not included)
- Unique 2-steel rail sliding system design offers single slide-glide operation; reducing saw’s footprint and allowing operation flush against a wall
- In-front bevel lock for convenient operation
- Dual dust collection ports provide excellent dust extraction performance
- Increased capacity for up to 6-5/8 in. crown molding (vertically nested), 5-1/4 in. baseboard (vertical), and 12 in. crosscuts at 90
- Miters 0-60 left and right; bevels 0-48 left and right
- Positive miter stops at: 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45, and 60 left or right
- Integrated 4-3/4 in. tall fence system for increased rigidity and more precise miter and bevel cuts
- Built-in laser clearly indicates line-of-cut whether blade is turning or not; on-off switch and micro-adjustments for precise “left-of-blade” or “right-of-blade” cutting
- Linear ball bearing system engineered to deliver “dead-on” accurate cuts
- Large-sized aluminum base improves stability of material for efficient cutting
- Electric brake for maximum productivity
- Direct drive motor for increased cutting efficiency and reduced maintenance
- Soft start suppresses start-up reaction for smooth start-ups and longer gear life

Great saw like all makita tools, I’ll recommend to anyone who has makita tools, plenty of power and when full charge it last all day.

Very powerfulThe 36v Miter Saw cuts quick and clean with no hesitation. I picked up the Makita compact folding miter saw stand as well. They look straight up clean AF together. It did take me a while to setup the saw and stand. All in all it was a great purchase, and they threw in another 2 – 5.0 18v batteriesAll together the package came with the saw, 4 – 5.0 18v batteries & the double charger for 400$

I did alot of research on this saw before I purchased. There were alot of mixed reviews. The saw was packaged nicely not like some of the earlier models. I think that was the cause of some of the accuracy issues. I spent alot of time squaring the saw up & doing test cuts. It was off slightly. One issue I wasn’t happy with was the upper fence was not flush or 90° with the lower fence. Makita was great and sent me another upper fence and was willing to return for new one. The new fence was the same. I ended up filling down the guide pin & backside of fence until perfect. I love the soft start & direct drive motor. It cuts so smoothly!I found no issues with it cupping or cutting a curve when cutting.

Great saw. Only needed to adjust bevel about 1 degree. Miter angle at all detents did not need adjustment

I love it. It cuts just as fast or faster than my corded 12″ Dewalt miter saw and very accurate. The Batteries last a full 8hr day of continuous cutting and still had some life to spare. Great tool!!

I purchased this saw from Home Depot online primarily because I needed a good but light weight saw that I can lift onto a work bench or load into my truck to transport. I am an “older” do-it-yourself carpenter. When the box arrived for pickup at Home Depot, it was obvious that this tool is a heavy beast. HD website description: The Home Depot “Product Overview” description states “a compact and portable design that weighs only 27.3 lbs (with battery). When you go to the “Specifications” page, it shows a weight of 44 lbs (so maybe the 17 lb difference is the carton and extra batteries that came with the promotion?)Makita website description: Features: Weighs 60.6 lbs with batteries. Shipping weight: 80.483 lbs. Bottom line — the Home Depot description is terribly wrong and needs to be fixed. I returned it to my local Home Depot, which was done easily other than having to lift this beast onto a hand truck and my wife helping me lift the box into my pickup truck. I have now ordered a new Milwaukee cordless miter saw which is supposed to weigh 45 lbs. Fingers crossed when it arrives next week!

This saw is very powerful. I didn’t think the batteries would provide enough power. I am very impressed with the cuts. I cut through a 4×4 like butter.

Saw is absolutely fantastic. Right out of the box everything was nearly perfectly aligned. Very little adjustment needed. The dust collection is better than other miter saws I’ve used when hooked up to a shop vac. Haven’t tried the dust bag though. 2 5 ah batteries have a longer life than I was expecting. I’m a DIYer So I charge them about once a week so I know they’ll be ready for any big projects. I haven’t tested any large or hardwood lumber but the power is there. The only downside of found with the saw so far is how heavy it is. This is likely just a minor trade off for how many of the parts are metal. The rail design is also a huge plus as my shop is tiny and every square foot is precious.Highly recommend this saw.

Had to jump through hoops to get the extra two batteries that where advertised

Good power and value (when considering the batteries and dual charger) from a very substantial tool. But I may have received a unit where the blade is not in alignment with the sliding rails, resulting in an inconsistent cut…and what good is a miter saw that makes inaccurate cuts?
Elsa Labadie (verified owner) –
So far so good. Set up was pretty good out of box. Cuts smooth. Blade was square to fence and table. Dust collection not as good as my festool miter saw. Makita has a similar model to this, an XSL04 that has AWS for turning on / off a Makita vac. Is the lower model number mean it’s an older saw?
