Makita is a pioneer in brushless motor engineering, battery technology and miter saw innovation. This combined expertise resulted in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless 12 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw Kit with Laser (XSL07PT). It’s powered by two 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries for 36-Volt power and performance, but without leaving the 18-Volt LXT platform. X2 LXT technology delivers increased power, speed and run time, without the hassles of a cord. Get up to 175 cuts per charge in 2×12 SPF lumber with two 5.0 Ah batteries. The efficient BL Brushless Motor runs cooler and more efficiently for longer tool life and delivers up to 4,400 RPM for fast and smoother cutting. The XSL07PT also features Automatic Speed Change technology to adjust cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. The XSL07PT has a unique 2-steel rail sliding system design that offers single slide-glide operation for smooth and dead-on accurate cutting right out of the box, as well as a reduced overall footprint that allows the saw to be positioned flush against a wall. The Makita AF601 Pneumatic 16-Gauge, 2-1/2 In. Straight Finish Nailer is an outstanding tool. What I like the most is how well balanced the tool is which makes it easy to use for long periods of time. I have looked at nailers from other manufacturers but they did not have the same feel nor did they seem to be designed as well. The tool is a joy to use for a DIYer who does extensive home modifications. First I used the tool to attach trim molding. It did a perfect job of securing the trim tightly. The driven nails were flush with the trim. [I need to experiment with adjusting the depth setting to countersink the nails; the instructions do not explain this feature clearly.] Using this tool is so much faster and better than using a hammer. For me, with a hammer, I would often have challenges of the wind blowing over the nail, or the hammer missing the nail, or the nailset missing the nail. None of those problems occur any more with this nailer. Next I used it on hardwood (oak) flooring. I really did not expect it to work with such a hard wood but again it drove the nails perfectly. Finally I used it for making a wood box. It drove the nails tightly to secure the pieces. I had a problem initially with the contact actuation mode in driving two nails instead of one, but learned quickly how to avoid that. Everything about the tool makes it easy to use. Loading the magazine is quite simple. Makita stresses safety throughout the instructions and includes safety goggles with the kit. It also includes a small container of oil and a functional blue plastic case. One small issue is that the bottle of oil will leak in the case after it has been opened. Either the case or the oil bottle needs to be redesigned. The description says that the “Reversible belt hook allows the tool to remain close” but the instructions say not to hang the tool from the waist belt. The nailer has too many other features to mention.

I have a 35 year old Makita circular saw which still cuts and runs like a dream. My Son with his huge arms complained of the weight of it lol. Told him it was built to last hahahaha. This nailer has a couple of features I really like. One of which is at the push of a button you can blow off the area where you are working. It is simple to operate and well made. Super easy to load and should you have a jam it is easy to clear out. One thing I do wish it had is the quick connector is not the swivel type and straight out. Swivel type is far superior for operational use. Overall I am extremely well pleased with this nailer.

Liked how it worked, and was light weight, easy to use, however was larger unit than my old nailer. Tried to switch the straight air fitting to a swivel one, however unit wouldn’t fit back into storage case, had to put straight air fitting back on.

Very light, easy handling nailer. This nailer replaces a first gen all electric made by a competitor that has red tools. The very minor drawback of requiring air tool oil is worth the slight hassle. Don’t hesitate. Buy now and enjoy.

I have or have had a trim gun of some kind from all the major manufacturers. And Makita has impressed me with these. I bought the 15g 16g 18g abd 23g. And every one is made well and performs great. You wont be sorry buying ine of these.

A very good 16 gauge nailer. I would have given it 5 stars but the rubber guard is a little flimsy and comes off easily. Also a few too many mid-fires.

Great brad gun so far! Good feel, great features, and not a jam yet. Does not flake MDF and doesn’t mark real wood. Well built for the price. Will definitely be looking at Makita’s other nailers in the future.

This Makita 16ga finish nailer will be replacing my basic Porter Cable nailer. The Makita has some nice refinements that make it nicer to use. The lockout feature is very nice–many times I’ve been dry firing without realizing I was out of nails, so I will definitely be using that. The depth adjustment knob on the Makita is much nicer, with detents and markings on the gun that show you which direction to turn for deeper or shallower driving. The Makita also has a tooless latch to clear any jams–fortunately I think I’ve only had one jam in any of my pneumatic nailers, so I probably won’t use it much, but it’s nice to have. The one design detail I did not like is the loading of the nails. Nails have to be fed into the back of the holder, and the strips of nails get stuck during loading. I have to pull them past the follower before they will slide forward. (see video for demonstration) Not a huge deal, but it was surprising in an otherwise very refined nail gun.The Makita drove 1″ and 2″ nails without any issues. The gun seemed slightly quieter than my old Porter Cable. The driver pin for the Makita seems to be aligned well–when the nails were counter sunk, it typically did not hit the wood around the nail head. By contrast, my Porter Cable would usually produce a hole in the wood up to twice the size of the nail head. The Makita pneumatic guns all have a feature to vent air out of the back of the handle–apparently to blow dust off of work. While novel, I personally don’t think I’ll ever use that feature, as I don’t typically have much dust when I’m doing assembly or nailing, and would typically use a dust collector or vacuum instead of a jet of air to clean it up.Very nice nailer and a nice upgrade from the basic Porter Cable that I have been using.

This is a very high quality great finish nailer. Starting with unpacking the item, the nail gun comes in a very nice hard plastic case that comes with a small bottle of oil along with safety glasses! The hard case is great for storing the nailer while preventing excessive dust from getting near the nailer. The nailer itself has a great balanced feel in your hand with a very comfortable grip. The nailer has a very solid and well constructed feel. There is a hook mounted on the nailer which is nice for hanging on a secure spot while working on a ladder or working on ceiling work. The nailer has a single sequential actuation mode along with a contact actuation mode for more repetitive nailing. The nailer can use 1″ to 2.5″ nails. I strongly recommend this product. This type product is great for more than just fiinish trim. The longer nails work great for making misc. wooden storage boxes and craft type work. There is a depth adjustment on the nailer which is very handy depending on the material and depth of set you are looking for. As mentioned earlier, I would definitely recommend!!
