Makita, a pioneer in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless Rear Handle 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw (XSR01Z, tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). It’s powered by two 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum performance, and has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18-Volt X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like cutting sheet and dimensional lumber that traditionally called for a corded saw. Best of all, users can remain in 1 battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18-Volt batteries with the XSR01Z as they use across the expansive Makita 18-Volt LXT cordless tool series. The XSR01Z has a long list of features for efficient cutting without the cord. Users of leading corded saws will appreciate the blade-left rear-handle design. The electronically-controlled brushless motor delivers a full 5,100 RPM for efficient cutting. In internal testing, the XSR01Z made up to 558 cross-cuts per charge in 2×4 SPF lumber using 2 fully-charged 5.0 Ah batteries. Its part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, the worlds largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.
- XSR01Z – powered by 2 LXT batteries, X2 LXT technology delivers more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord
- XSR01Z – Makita built electronically controlled BL motor delivers 5,100 RPM for maximum performance and 50% longer run time per charge
- XSR01Z – the BL brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer-life
- XSR01Z – automatic speed change technology adjusts cutting speed and torque during cut for optimum performance
- XSR01Z – X2 LXT technology delivers up to 558 cross-cuts per charge in 2×4 SPF lumber and up to 291 cross-cuts per charge in 2×10 SPF lumber using two 5.0 Ah batteries (batteries not included)
- XSR01Z – large 2-9/16 in. cutting capacity at 90° cuts 3X material in a single pass
- XRJ06Z – two 18-Volt LXT lithium-ion batteries deliver the power and performance of a corded reciprocal saw without leaving the 18-Volt LXT platform (batteries not included)
- XRJ06Z – X2 LXT technology delivers up to 155 cuts per charge in 2×10 SPF lumber using two 5.0 Ah batteries (batteries not included)
- XRJ06Z – Makita-built variable 2-speed brushless motor delivers 0 low to 2,300 low and 0 high to 3,000 high strokes per minute
- XRJ06Z – 1-1/4 in. L stroke length provides increased cutting efficiency
- XRJ06Z – refined crank mechanism design minimizes blade deflection and reduces vibration
- XRJ06Z – the BL brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the BL motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer

This saw is awesome if you are in need of a cordless Framing saw. Tons of power, good design and weight balance, is also much quieter than corded versions and batteries last all day on the job site. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy, if it had a light I would have gave it 5 stars

After months of debate between the Dewalt 60vFlexvolt and this saw I bought the Makita. I am VERY glad I did. After using it the last 3 days on 142 sheets of 7/16′ OSB, I can tell you OFFICIALLY that it will cut over 491 linear feet of saw kerf, (236″ x 25 sheets) on one battery charge!! This is with the 5.0 Ah batteries. (I’m ordering the 6.0 Ah batteries soon!) I could work almost 3 hours straight, charge while at lunch and do it over again in the afternoon. Outstanding! I also took a narrow paint pen and filled in the front inch divisers in the shoe and painted the Zero cut mark RED for easy sighting. One of the negatives that everybody mentioned was no place to put the blade wrench. I solved that problem by bending the end of the wrench 90 degrees, drilling a hole in that end and fastening it to the fence hole with a short 6mm hex head screw, which will ALSO double as the fence screw should I use one. At one point my batteries died just before I had finished a load and had to drag out the corded saw. I was cussing that cord in five minutes, (LOL!) after being cord, “FREE” for so long! This is a GREAT saw that will work like a champ in any application. BUY IT!

This Makita saw had been a bit of a revelation. Coming from a Ryobi entry level circular saw, I didn’t realize how much time I would save by having something that tracked better, cut faster and more accurately and just made the work that much easier. It’s much heavier, though.

I find Makita to be a consistent performer, and for my residential construction business/needs it’s my go to brand and what I reach for most, especially for any task where accuracy and attention to detail are concerned. This saw actually blew me away. It’s extremely light, accurate, and powerful.
