Makita, a pioneer in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless Rear Handle 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw (XSR01Z, tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). It’s powered by two 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum performance, and has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18-Volt X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like cutting sheet and dimensional lumber that traditionally called for a corded saw. Best of all, users can remain in 1 battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18-Volt batteries with the XSR01Z as they use across the expansive Makita 18-Volt LXT cordless tool series. The XSR01Z has a long list of features for efficient cutting without the cord. Users of leading corded saws will appreciate the blade-left rear-handle design. The electronically-controlled brushless motor delivers a full 5,100 RPM for efficient cutting. In internal testing, the XSR01Z made up to 558 cross-cuts per charge in 2×4 SPF lumber using 2 fully-charged 5.0 Ah batteries. Its part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, the worlds largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.
- XSR01Z – powered by 2 LXT batteries, X2 LXT technology delivers more power, speed and run time without the hassles of a cord
- XSR01Z – Makita built electronically controlled BL motor delivers 5,100 RPM for maximum performance and 50% longer run time per charge

The first saw that I received not only quit on the second use, but also shorted out 4 of my batteries. Customer service over the phone didn’t believe me and I had to go to an authorized repair facility that confirmed my findings. Currently am waiting on replacements for 4+weeks. 2nd saw works well..

Lots of power I would compare it to same as corded not much heavier than Corded. Very happy with it

Very convenient excellent power a little heavy but the convenience is worth it.First job was cutting 6 x 6 timber. No issues at max cut depth and just rolled the timber to get a complete cut

I picked this Makita saw up for $100 as an open box item! This thing cuts like a dream and went through old pressure treated 2× like hot knife through butter. Good battery life. A little heavier than my DeWalt 20 volt 7-1/4″ but made for heavier work load.

Makita really went above and beyond when they designed this beast. Fist off, it’s buikt like a tank. Everything is made from magnesium and cast aluminum except the casing, sobit will take a lot of abuse. It comes with a 24 tooth blade that rips wood like nothing at all. The cuts are always smooth and straight. The added weight of this saw really helps you control it well when cutting. The seph adjustment is easy to adjust, but I really love the bevel adjustments on this saw. They added a secondary positive stop knobs that allows you to automatically stop at 22.5 degrees or 45 degrees without needing to look at the marks every time. It needs to run off of two batteries at the same time, but the 5.0 last a very long time. It even has double battery indicator lights on the top of the saw to show you how much more juice you still have. As for the rear handle, I like these much better than the did wonders as the are more comfortable to use, and are not as wide. I will say that there is a slower build up of power going to the blade than what you would find in an electric saw, but only takes a second to get the full rpm up. This even has a self adjusting motor that will increase power on its own when needed. This should help you save on battery usage. There were a few things that really got to me about this buy. The first is that they give you no bag to keep this in. Makita is usually good about this, but not this time. Another is the saw can take an edge guide, but again Makita did not include it (really Makita??) And the third is there is no place in the saw to store the blade removal wrench. Many other saws, especially in this range has an onboard wrench storage slot.Other than Makita cheating out a bit on accessories, the saw is just plain awesome.
