The Makita 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 4-Piece Combo Kit (model XT442) is built for the pro-user who requires a range of best-in-class cordless solutions. The XT442 packs four Lithium-Ion cordless tools for drilling, driving, cutting, demolition and lighting. The XT442 includes a 2-speed 1/2 in. hammer driver-drill with 480 in. lbs. of Max Torque, a 6-1/2 in. circular saw that will cut 2X material at 45°, a reciprocating saw with 0-2,800 strokes per minute and a 4-position rechargeable flashlight with Xenon bulb (DML185). The kit also includes 2 fast-charging 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion 3.0Ah batteries, Rapid Optimum Charger and tool bag. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18-Volt Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. I’m a little reluctant to give a 5-star rating because I have not used these tools over time, but, right out of the box, they all work exactly as expected. Both saws come with one blade each, and the light (not LED) has an extra bulb inside it. The batteries are holding charges, and the recharging time is just as expected.The drill/driver has three settings, drive screws, drill, and hammer drill, and it has two speed ranges (it is variable speed, but has two different maximum speeds). It delivers, just like one would expect.The circular saw is just what one would expect, but, I would refer to it as a left-handed saw, with the blade on the left (which is a big plus for me, in this right-hand-biased world of tools).The head of the light (incandesent) clicks up and down into four different positions. It feels like it might wear quickly, but, so far it holds its position as it’s supposed to, and it’s a bright light, and very useful when looking into crevices under the hood, or up under the car.I have not yet used the reciprocating saw.The primary reason I am giving this such a high rating is because it was such an excellent value. Three tools, a light, with 2, 3.0 amp-hour batteries, charger, and pretty bag, and it was delivered for a grand total of less than two hundred after discounts!

I am blown away how good these tools are. So much so I had to write this review. The four tools are great for home or pro use. Not for a framer, but finish carpentry, plumber or electrician, these are great. The drill is a amazing. Powerful. The battery lasts for hours. Easy to change bits. Very comfortable and balanced. The circular saw is equally amazing for cuts up to 2 inches. I build cabinetry so most of my cuts are less than an inch thick. But this will chew through a 2 x 4 with ease. The sawzall is good, good for plunge cuts in drywall or cutting pipes. Overall these are amazing power tools.

Absolutely fantastic kit with a great balance between power and size. The recipro. saw works great. The kits comes with two batteries, keep one charged and you should be good. The circular saw is smooth and easy to work with. Hammer Drill/Driver is packed with power but still light enough.
