After reading all the previous reviews regarding jams, I was a bit hesitant but am a big makita fan so I thought; worse case I will return. Mine worked like a charm. Switching sizes is easy. Battery life is super long. I practiced on a few boards to get the feel and after that, no worries!

The pin nailer is good , but the nails get stuck multiple times

Great cordless pin nailer!

I purchased this unit two months ago as my first ever cordless nailer. I Install cabinets and custom trim for a living and I have shot literally thousands or pins from 5/8″ on up in a wide variety of hardwoods and this unit has NEVER misfired. It has left a few pins proud here and there, but the same can be said for my pneumatic Hitachi. This is my only makita tool I own, and I am glad I have it. I would not hesitate to purchase another if I ever needed to.

The only problem is it constantly misfires unless I only use half a strip of nails at a time which is very inconvenient

Excellent up to 1″ in most hardwoods. My depth adjuster was tough to adjust.

Been using this for about a year off and on. Not every project needs pins. Not sure why others are having issues with this tool. Mine rocks! I keep waiting for it to misfire or not sink the pin. I build furniture and I’ve used it in maple, walnut, canarywood, birch and plywood all with perfect results. I fooled around with it trying to make it misfire and if you don’t keep a tight grip on it, it will bounce up and not sink the pin, but this is true of all nailers I know of. I love this thing. So easy.

Very hard to find Brad nails for it. Most I’ve found are headless. That’s the only issue.

I am a cabinet installer by trade and it’s the only occupation I have had starting at 16 years old and Now have 15 + years experience. With that being said I love this tool! Works great for Paneling moldings toe kicks and more I use 3/4 and 1 inch pins with no problem it rocks

It is the only pin nailer that is cordless, that proforms like a air nailer quick in shooting 1 1/8 in hard wood. I like it because it’s easy to used. The down side on this tool is the led light, it does not lid up the work area enough.

Very convenient.

I like it for it is handy from time to time and doesn’t split thin wood in my trim work. I was worried at first, because the pins jammed a few times out of the box. But I think taking the time to seat the nails tightly to the bottom of the track and to the magnetic driving chamber keeps the pins from jamming. So, thanks for making such a handy tool available!

Despite the 3.2 average review, I went ahead and bought this baby based on some of the 5 star reviews being detailed where as low rated reviews did not provide much detail as to why the rating was low. This is actually a great product, however it does not work well with certain materials. If Makita was upfront about what materials can be used with this pin nailer, then it would save everyone the headache and provide a better customer experience. This pin nailer WORKS GREAT for wood trim, cabinet trim, and even blasts through doug fir studs. However it SUCKS for MDF trim, especially prefinished MDF. Even on the max setting I can’t drive a 1″ 23 gauge pin nail into a 1/2″ board without a 1/4″ sticking out above the surface. Its a great product for wood, but not MDF. That said, if you’re working with wood its awesome, for MDF avoid.

Excellent performance. Very easy to use. We remodeled a kitchen and two bathrooms with this…fantastic performance and simple to switch batteries between this and my other 18v Makita tools!
