It is compatible with Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries (sold separately).The XTR01Z is engineered for a full range of cabinetry and woodworking applications. It has a variable speed control dial (10,000 – 30,000) RPM) to match the speed to the application, with electronic speed control to maintain constant speed under load and soft start feature for smoother start-ups and better accuracy. Great router. Slightly loose/sloppy depth knob, but it cinches down tight. Some may find it a little too loose for finer depth adjustments. Very nice brake on the drive. Strongly suggest adding the dust/vacuum attachment which is not included.

Smooth and super strong for compact router. One recommendation for buyers is the base plate is very small and can slip off certain templates,,,, not a fault of product, but may want to also buy a larger base plate – I ran into this with door hinge plates.

Professional grade tool! I bought the ryobi cordless planer on the first go around. The ryobi had a couple things break on it and it was not very precision. I returned the ryobi and ordered the makita. It was worth the extra money! The makita is quiter, built more durable, and feels good in your hand. The makita does not come with a dust bag. But the ryobi did. After the ryobi dust bag got cut up by the blade I see why makita does not provide one. You can purchase a dust bag for the makita but I recommend using a dust collector if anything. Personally I don’t use anything on mine.
