Corded power meets cordless convenience with the 18V LXT Brushless Compact Router (model XTR01Z, tool only, batteries and charger sold separately). The 18V LXT Router has an efficient Makita BL Brushless Motor for up to 50% longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. It is compatible with Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries (sold separately). The XTR01Z is engineered for a full range of cabinetry and woodworking applications. It has a variable speed control dial (10,000 – 30,000) RPM) to match the speed to the application, with electronic speed control to maintain constant speed under load and soft start feature for smoother start-ups and better accuracy. Convenience features include the smooth rack-and-pinion fine depth adjustment system for more precise settings, dual L.E.D. lights to illuminate the work surface, and a quick release cam lock system for convenient depth adjustments and base removal/installation. Definitely like the compact size and ease of use. I also like the way it lights up the work surface and the fact that it uses the same batteries as my other Makita tools.I would definitely have given it 5 stars except that the first time I used it I realized it did not have enough power to push the bit I had installed in it without tripping and needing to be reset. Ultimately I found that it works good with smaller bits but care needs to be taken to make sure the depth of the cut is done incrementally.

Great router. Slightly loose/sloppy depth knob, but it cinches down tight. Some may find it a little too loose for finer depth adjustments. Very nice brake on the drive. Strongly suggest adding the dust/vacuum attachment which is not included.

I shopped these type of vacs very hard putting the highest priority on CFM . This unit is the highest in its class. So I didn’t care if was $20 or $30 bucks more. I am very pleased with my decision plus it is very easy to put to use with the layout of the the tools. I hated pulling that cord out and rounding up parts. Now we m cleaning up in seconds. Well worth it.

Smooth and super strong for compact router. One recommendation for buyers is the base plate is very small and can slip off certain templates,,,, not a fault of product, but may want to also buy a larger base plate – I ran into this with door hinge plates.
