Overall excellent tool. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could as it’s not perfect, but I’ll round up. It handles very well and has good run time. My only gripe is that I find the automatic soft start up to be mildly annoying… Though I don’t think it really affects performance, I’d rather have fine control using the trigger.

I’ve only had this tool for a month but I’m very impressed. It’s well-balanced, easy to handle and has good power. A corded jig saw may have a little more power, but I really like not having a cord in the way, especially when cutting arcs and circles. I use it with both a 2Ah and a 3 Ah battery. The 3Ah or higher capacity is needed if you’re cutting a lot of material thicker than 3/4″ ply. The lock/unlock switch (turns the LED light on, too) turns out to be a very good feature – with my older 9.6 volt Makita jig saw, I would sometimes accidentally pull the trigger while repositioning the saw. It’s not cheap, but, overall, this saw well exceeds my expectations and is worth the price.

First got the barrel handle brushless model but it had no trigger and was awkward starting and stopping so returned it and got this one. Both have the same brushless motor specs and this one is easier to control and lots of power. I also have the previous brushed model and the brushless is stronger. Comes with a nice selection of Makita blades. Unfortunately this item does not seem to be stocked in stores so had to order it. Took a week to get from Georgia to Palatka, Florida for pickup which seems on the slow side these days.

The jigsaw works awesome. I don’t really understand why folks say the soft start is bad. If you know how to use your equipment than it’s no issue. The base was bent though. Although Makita has a good customer service, so the new base is on its way for free.

Perfect jigsaw for the work I do, just wished it would blow the sawdust out of the way better than it does. Also wished it came in a package deal with a charger, battery and case for this price.Ended up buying the Makita 15-1/2 in. Small Interlocking Case to store this and the Cordless Multi-Tool with one battery to share between them and it still has enough room for the spare blades for each tool, just not enough room for a charger to fit in there.
