The Makita 18-Volt LXT Brushless 3-Speed Impact Wrench (XWT11Z) combines extended run time and speed control for unmatched fastening performance. The XWT11Z is powered by a Makita brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. 3 speeds with reverse rotation auto-stop mode stops rotation in 2-seconds when fastener is adequately loosened, making the XWT11Z ideal for automotive, installation, and fabrication trades. Its part of Makita’s expanding 18-Volt LXT system, the worlds largest cordless tool system powered by 18-Volt lithium-ion batteries. Makita 18-Volt LXT Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. 18-Volt LXT batteries are included in this kit. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. I’ve been very happy with it. The portability and small size are great. Battery life has been very good for my usage. I mainly am using it for auto lug nuts. No problems on lugs tightened to 140 ft/lbs. it will not remove lugs with wheel locks though. I’ve needed to remove those by hand.

I was skeptical about the power of this tool. However it proceeded to handle lug nuts and even the axle nut on my SUV with relative ease. It has decent battery life.

Would recommend getting at least a 3Ah battery because the 2Ah doesn’t last very long. Also the light on the impact is kinda weak and doesn’t illuminate much. The charger provided is NOT a rapid charger and also does not have a fan that cools the batteries when they are being charged.

Makita makes excellent power tools. This impact wrench is ideal for mid-range applications, such as working on cars and light duty trucks. Excellent for brake and suspension work, as well as lug nut removal and installation. This is the minimum I would recommend for automotive work. A standard 1/4” driver works too, just not nearly as well. I would recommend this to anyone looking to make automotive work a breeze.

High quality and ergonomic design. The charger does not have a fan on it or any auditory cue that the charge is complete. A light indicates charge is done. It was capable of removing lug nuts from truck wheel. The impact wrench is light weight and little, making it comfortable to use. It meets all the specifications in the manual and with Makita name I believe it will last a long time. It comes with a carrying case.

I’m a big fan of Makita cordless tools. I recently bought this impact which now makes it my 3rd Makita impact wrench bought in the last 13 months. I only tested it on lug nut removal and re-tightening on my SUV and it passed that test. I’ll be using it for future automotive work. Something that bothers me though. The direction selector switch behind the trigger has a lot of play in it, much more than my other Makita impact wrenches, drivers, and drills. I tried 2 of them and they both had what I consider excessive play and looseness in the switch so I suppose it’s normal for this model but below par compared to my other Makita tools. I hope Makita isn’t cutting corners and cheapening up their tools to cut costs and hopefully it won’t lead to future problems. My concerns are reflected in my ratings and I still intend to buy other Makita tools in the future.

The kit was complete as specified. The battery did not appear to be charged and the charger is not a fast charge unit so I popped it into my fast charger to make sure the battery was good. The gun appears to be strong an I look forward to using it as an accessory to my camper to speed leveling.
