Makita created a new class in cordless with 18V LXT Sub-Compact tools. Makita Sub-Compact gives users 12V handling with 18V run time and compatibility with the world’s largest 18V lithium-ion cordless tool system. The 18V LXT Sub-Compact Brushless 3/8 in. Square Drive Impact Wrench is ideal for working in tight spaces and for overhead applications. The XWT12ZB has an efficient Makita BL Brushless Motor engineered for up to 50% longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. It has variable two-speed with 0-1,300/0-2,400 RPM and 0-2,000/0-3,600 IPM and up to 130 ft. lbs. of Max Torque. The compact size and lower weight mean reduced fatigue for operators, especially for overhead applications. For added convenience, the Reverse Rotation Auto-Stop Mode stops rotation and impact when the fastener is loosened adequately. Users also get a variable speed trigger, built-in L.E.D. lights, and a convenient 3/8 in. square drive for quick socket changes. It features Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). XPT is a protective seal inside the tool and is engineered for improved operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components.

I am a maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing facility and we have Milwaukee tools. I bought makita for my home use so I have used both and even though it is rated less than Milwaukee don’t let that fool you. It won’t twist off 3/8 bolts but it will tighten them to the point it gaulds the threads.

So far so good. Light, compact with good power and stable. Good tool to get around with on smaller jobs. Need the 1/2 to complete the set. Would like to see some cordless ratchets too.

Lets first start off by getting out the way the fact this is “sub-compact tool”. It’s not a beast compared to other more powerful tools. This one is meant to be more compact, rather than powerful. I have the sub compact drill and impact driver. Neither of them are super powerful but theyre enough for what i use them for. They’re compact and light and i LOVE that. That being said, i needed a more powerful impact for those random times i need to drive a thicker screw into a stud for mounting a tv to the wall for example. I saw this on sale, noticed it had more power than my impact driver, i figured the only times I’d need “more power” would likely be when driving a lug nut type screw. I took a chance and went with it. Decided to try it for the first time while mounting a tv onto a stud and wow! Yes this has way more power than the standard driver. It didn’t struggle at all. Drove the lug nut right in. I wish i knew exactly how thick it was. I’m sure you can imagine. Very impressed. Very light. Only a centimeter longer than my driver which is crazy considering how much better it performed. I’m nothing close to a pro, very much a DIYer. I doubt i’ll ever use this to tighten lug nuts on a wheel, but who knows, I’m confident itll handle it

Outstanding

You have to know what youre buying before hand. No, it is not that powerful but perfect for certain applications, better than going through 2 or more 1/4” attachments a week due to snapping

Stronger than I thought for driving 4in lags to mount TV dish too roof stud.

Nice impact, light and strong

Already have a larger 1/2″ version so the smaller 3/8″ will be handy in tight situations. 18 volt Makita is dependable and rugged as well.
