The space gray Wireless Aluminum Tenkeyless Keyboard from Matias is designed with an Apple-like aesthetic and Mac-friendly function keys. It utilizes wireless connectivity via Bluetooth and features convenient multimedia keys that can manage volume, pause/play, skipping between tracks, screen brightness, and more.
In addition to not needing wires, this keyboard can pair with up to three Bluetooth-enabled devices at a time. It also has a rechargeable battery, so you can remain tether-free. Other helpful features include an easy-to-carry and durable slim aluminum design along with Windows and Mac compatibility.

Bought for the Mac key layout in gray with black keys. (Few other options without the width of a keypad.) The keyboard works perfectly well, and I like the three quick-switch buttons to change paired devices (I’ve also used it with my iPad). Solid metal base, rechargeable battery is a plus, although USB-A has grown old. I have only two minor beefs. First, the keyfeel is pretty light with a *miniscule* rattling sensation. It’s barely noticeable, and don’t shy away because of it, but I’m comparing to the solid perfection of my Gen 2 Apple BT keyboard. Second, the color is lighter than what we’ve come to know as space grey, so don’t expect it to quite match other Apple space grey products. No big deal, and I’d buy this keyboard again (unless Apple started making a space grey magic keyboard without the keypad!).

I really, really hate the MBP butterfly keyboard, and I really, really need a bona-fide escape key (yes I tried key mapping and it just didn’t work for me). I hate it much so that I have spent lots of money on a Henge dock and an LG Mac monitor for a desktop set-up so I can avoid typing directly on the horrible MBP keyboard. This Matias keyboard completes my butterfly-avoidance set-up. The Space Gray is an imperfect match to Apple’s Space Gray components, but it’s darker than Silver and the black keys complement the look. The operation of the keys is superior to the butterfly (in my opinion), and more like the previous generation scissor keys, albeit with a bit more travel. The plastic keyboard base flexes noticeably, so I supplemented the four built-in rubber pads with a few more stick-on pads to help stabilize it.

Finding ANY keyboard that is in between the Apple small magic keyboard and the full keyboard is impossible. I’m not sure if I like the keys on this Matias one but I’m using it now more often and I do like it. Having easy access to arrow keys, the Delete key and Page Up/Down is a pleasure. And now my mouse is closer for me to use (3 inches makes a big difference). Except for accountants, who needs the numeric pad? Oh, the space gray isn’t quite the same as the Mac space gray but it is close enuf.
