We are using the chisel to remove mortar from old ornamental stones that have to be reinstalled. The chisel removes all the mortar build up quite easily. We use a rubber mallet to hit the chisel. The construction of the chisel is industrial grade with high quality steel and protective coating. It is made in America. So far the chisel has stayed sharp and has no pits in the edge.

I used the chisel to help remove steps from my back deck. The chisel worked well to get under the steps to lift and loosen the nails for easy removal.

This is a well made chisel! The tip is still sharp after a bit of work on concrete and brick. I don’t do any professional masonry but I’ve used it quite a bit since I’ve had it and there’s almost no sign of wear whatsoever. It has substantial weight and a slightly angled edge and the size works very well for me (not too big, not to small) I can use it for some detail work as well as splitting. I like it and definitely recommend it!

This is a nice mason chisel I picked up to Take apart an old chimney on a 100 year old house that I wanted to save the bricks from.It is made of cast and heat treated steel then bead blasted to a dull gray.It has a single edge to cut bricks to size and the haft gives you lots of room to hold onto when striking with a hammer.I used it to chisel out the old mortar from the chimney and it worked out perfect for the job I needed.

I use this chisel to remove broken or small areas of floor tile from concrete floors. The chisel is also great for removing the thinset from the concrete floor. It stays sharp and strong. When removing the tile we wear long gloves, eye protection, respirator and we wet the thinset to keep the dust down. Works great for smaller areas.I also used it on a concrete landscape block I had to cut. I scored the block on four sides and then with one swift hit the block broke perfectly on the score mark! The only negative is I wish it a little wider on top to make striking it easier. My hammer slipped off a few times and my hand has some bruises. As is it deserves four stars.

The Mason Chisel arrived at a great time. Had to do some brick work and the mason chisel worked just terrific. I like the double edge chisel. Easy to score the brick and then just hit it once and your brick is ready to set in place. Arrived with great packaging and not damaged. It was easy to use and very durable. Made of a great quality steel and seems to last for a long time. I like that it was made in the good old USA. Great tool.

Chisel me “timbers”… Or I suppose “stones” is more appropriate. The Mayhew 2 1/4″ mason chisel is a solid tool and I know it will last. I’ve had this chisel’s 3″ older sister for years and it’s still solid. I mainly use it to shape/trim stone as well as remove aged mortar in our 100+ year-old field stone basement. When the blade/point gets dull or pitted, I simply use a file or Dremel tool to sharpen it…Then back to business. Solid steel construction and comes with a 2 year satisfaction warranty. Another great tool made-in-the-USA!

As a “seeds” member when I was reviewing items available this one caught my eye, because of a long standing project I had been avoiding. I used this chisel to remove some mortar both off of bricks and remaining mortar where bricks came lose. Its size, durability and strength were perfect, and permitted me to complete the project timely. My only objection is the lack of some type of insulation e.g. plastic or rubber to minimize the vibration when hitting it with my 3lb. sledge hammer. So I recommend anyone using this item were insulated gloves.

It is a chisel. I picked this up for other uses but it is doing the job. I have no complaints when it comes to this mason chisel. I have used it to chip concrete and bust up a little rock. it definitely does the job without any issue. Shipping was fast and the price was right. It is easy to use and the edge seems to be holding up pretty well. I would recommend
