Works great. I’m ashamed that in all my years of having the need to make precision start holes for drilling in wood that I am only now using the correct tool. Don’t make the same mistake I made for so long and use the tip of screws or nails to attempt to make precise start holes for drilling. They are not designed or machined with the proper tip shape to make start holes like an awl is. This thing is worth its weight in gold for perfectionists like me.

Nice awl as awls go. Worth the price – I usually heat the awl up with a torch to make holes in fabric before I fasten it down to furniture.
