The gray LifeCam Studio for Business from Microsoft is a high-definition webcam with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 allowing for video recordings of up to 1080p. For conducting video calls, the LifeCam Studio supports resolutions of up to 720p, using a compatible video conferencing service. It features CMOS sensor technology for better picture quality. The 75° diagonal field of view makes it easy to capture wide-angle pictures and video, while the 360° rotation capability offers an all-around view. With a wideband microphone, you have the ability to capture quality audio when chatting and recording video.

Overall, it is a good product. The image quality is good. My one issue is a little bit of a delay, especially with high quality imagning. It may be my computer, but other than that, I have no complaints.

The auto zoom is particularly useful. The image resolution is good, the 8 megapixel resolution only allows picture taking. The overall video quality is a little grainy though something you may expect from most digital webcams.

We utilize these cameras for Live Auction Broadcasts. What you wont find in any literature about this camera is it is the WORLDS ONLY zoom in and out web camera! Therefore it is the only one in the world we can use, very scary if Microsoft quits making them. Other solid features include tripod mount and fantastic sound pick up.

We use the product for webcasting interviews for our online radio station. The 1080p is great, but Microsoft only includes the 720p software – you have to buy 1080p software if you want to gain the full use of the camera. Microsoft: if you are going to sell the camera under your brand, include the software for it. It’d be nice if they made it with USB 3.0, but that’d just be asking too much from them. 😉

The image is simply spectacular. Easy to set up. And the microphone is good too. The microphone could has a noise canceling but however is good.

I use this along with Manfrotto 492 Micro Ball Head, 209 Tabletop Tripod Legs, and one or two 259B Extension Columns {all available from B&H) to place the LifeCam Studio about 7 feet away (use a USB extender for the extra distance) from the lecuturer and record the presentation to a notebook computer. Great quality when you don’t have time or space to roll out all the bells and whistles.
