I use this mainly for Skype. I wanted much better resolution and image quality than my laptop’s built in webcam, and that I got. Did much better in less light – to be expected. I really like the base of the camera – has the lip to hang it over a monitor/tv plus the tripod mount. The lens cover is just as others have said, it is loose and the only problem so far (minor).

I would recommend this to anyone who wants the top of the line.

High quality video and stills in proper lighting. Auto focus is efficient and light balance works well too. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this product. The item is small, but packs a powerful punch. Sits well on the monitor, better on a tripod.

I use LifeCam to make training videos which I shoot and edit, then release them on You Tube. My background is as a professional commercial and corporate video producer. I’ve worked with all types of film and video gear. I researched a lot before purchasing the LiteCam. The lens is sharp and focusable — an important feature for what I do. My disappointment is that the unit does not allow for an external mic. The built in mic is good compared to other webcams, but just not up to my audio standards so I record my voice on a separate mic and digital recorder. Then I sync it in post, just like the days when I made films with a picture track and a sound track. If Life Cam built their webcam with a jack for external mic I would give it 5 stars. Overall it is a good value.

This is a great product at a great price.

The image quality is staggeringly better than the built-in camera on my laptop. The installation and setup was flawless. I was working in under 8 minutes. Remember to uncheck all those extra apps Microsoft wants to install. The packaging is a mess. They should save some money on packaging and include a cheap little carrying bag.

The image quality is great, and the device setup is very easy. Despite it comes with Microsoft LifeCam driver, but I don’t actually need to install anything prior to use. Great! I love it.

we are pleased with the cameras we use them with jewelery software program, they are easy to use

Thrilled with the picture quality and easy setup in Windows 7. The built-in mic works well and is quite sensitive. The camera gives a good wide-angle view and adjusts lighting and focus automatically to give a great picture. We use it with Skype calls and are very pleased. My only issue with it is that it trys to install Windows Live Essentials when you first install the camera, but does give the option of a check box to bypass the install.

Pleasantly surprised by this camera! After years of using a high-end Logitech consumer webcam, this LifeCam is a big step up. Higher resolution, brighter, clearer picture, and better microphone. It has a very adaptable mounting system, and is secure on the top of my monitor. Also, the microphone works perfectly for Hey Cortana!

Great cam, has a great picture. Only issue I have is I can’t move or adjust the camera from the mouse. We use the camera from across living room for skype and it shows a great picture without having to zoom for those viewing. The microphone is very sensitive picks up everything. Sometimes it will make the ac sound like a hurricane.

I can’t say enough good things about this webcam. It works great, looks great, and is a good price for the quality. The only negative is the software Windows tries to install automatically. It’s junk software that you don’t need. The drivers install first which is what you need for Skype, Google Hangouts, etc. The extra software from Microsoft is useless.

Works great on Windows 7, right from the start. I like the option to set several resolutions and the field of view. The price was right with B & H’s discount…

Installed in Win7-64bit no issues, worked with Skype, which is why I got it, the MIC also provided good sound as well.

I was blown away by the image quality of this little webcam, which I purchased for my son’s second grade classroom. (They were hatching eggs.) Unfortunately, the webcam’s driver conflicted with the Willing Webcam software I was using to create time lapse footage, making this cam unusable for the project. There were no such issues with either a new or an older Logitech webcam. I’d read other reviews indicating compatibility issues between this webcam and Skype (!) so maybe this webcam just doesn’t play well with others. Installation was straightforward except for one thing: I plugged the webcam into my Windows 7 Pro 64 workstation and immediately got a message saying the firmware had to be upgraded. I clicked on the link which took me to the MS support page with NO FIRMWARE. Tried it a second time; same results. I ended up plugging it into a Vista machine, got the same message, clicked the link, and this time the MS support page had a link to download the latest firmware. The takeaway is this: If you receive this message and you’re using Windows 7, when you get to the support page just choose a different Windows OS to access the latest firmware. I will install fine under Windows 7. Beside its superior video quality, one thing I really liked about the webcam’s design was the tripod mount. This makes it very easy to attach to a Gorillapod for placement just about anywhere. I didn’t test this webcam with video calls so I can’t comment on audio quality. The auto focus was constantly searching so, as others have said, just turn it off. The bottom line: My three stars were earned entirely based on the quality of the video itself and the very convenient tripod mount. If it weren’t for the compatibility issues it would be a five star product for my use. Yet the video isn’t dramatically better than the Logitech C910, which (reportedly) has superior audio and none of the compatibility issues I experienced with this product. If a friend asks for a recommendation I’m going to point him to the Logitech product.

I use it for still shots

Worked great right out of the box. The only problem I had is with Microsoft not supporting the camera controls in Win 8.1. I have to be happy with the built-in Win 8.1 controls (with no pan, tilt, zoom); or use a third party software.
