Description
Create custom wood-engraved signs with the SignCrafter router jig from Milescraft. This kit includes two sets of letters and number router templates—along with additional copies of A, E, and I. The self-spacing 2-1/2 in. horizontal characters fit into the 36 in. adjustable clamping system without having to make any measurements—just affix the router stencils and start routing for uniformly spaced lettering and numbering. Equipped with the TurnLock base plate and bushing, your router simply glides through the router letter templates.

This is a good product overall with a few drawbacks. The router bit included should be flat rather than pointed to allow creation of a nice flat base to the letters. When using the full length SignCrafter, there is significant motion up and down and side to side. You must secure the entire unit to avoid making irregular letters.

Template is easy to set up and use. I did have trouble setting the baseplate on the router and setting the bit depth to actually reach the wood and make a cut. After that it is pretty easy. I can’t tell yet how many uses you can get out of each letter/number but the plates do get cut away also. This item works for making signs.

This is a great product and does everything it says and more. I would, however, recommend getting the Signcrafter Pro which includes the 1 and 1/2 inch letters allowing more flexibility in doing lettering.

I bout this kit for the intent of making signs and to get used to my router. The instructions were easy to follow. You can also find useful information on Youtube as well. The letters are 2 inchs in hieght. The kit comes with a bushing that makes it easy to glide around each letter. The set includes two sets of letters and numbers. You can not mess this up. Its so simple anyone can do it.

SignCrafter is easy to use – with a little learning curve. I had to nick a couple of the templates with the router blade before I figured out how to keep the guide against the template until the motor had stopped. The rails that hold the templates are a little flimsy – additional clamping helped keep the letters aligned.

This set is well built and inclusive of the necessary parts. I have two routers that I have not been able to find the proper adapter plates to hold the guide bushings. The adapter plate (base plate) in this set fits both of them. The base plate is large enough to free float over the letter guides without binding. The set is strong and easy to make duplicate signs. There are sufficient duplicate letters to make most names and numbers. Also, the set includes the extension rails and couplers needed to make quite long signs. This is a good product for a good price.
