i had bought this kit for my boyfriend i was shock to see him so excited when he open the kit. he had to go out to the garage and play with his new toy. but the funny thing is i been dating him for 4 years and he has never showed that much emotion as he did playing with his now design/inlay kit.needless to say he had to show me all the ways he could us the design kit. i would highly recommend to you ladies to buy the design/inlay kit for that guy in your life.

The included sub-base is nice, and the included inserts click into it nicely. However the outer snap-together base is rather flimsy and has enough play in it that if you’re doing one of the complicated patterns, it will be off, guaranteed. The instructions on how to do them are atrocious, even with the DVD.

I had to modify the base plate by drilling the holes deeper to get a smooth surface on the plate. The inlay kit must be fastened securely to your work surface with clamps, screws, or 2 way tape etc to get proper cuts. I also rubbed wax on the outside of the templates to make them easier to extract from the inlay kit. The pattern instructions are a little confusing so trial and error on a piece of paper is a must. Overall the product works great if you take a little extra time with your project.

I found the inlay kit to be pretty nifty! The instructions were clear and the base fit well on my router. I have also ordered the door mortise kit and can’t wait to try it out too!

The Milescraft TurnLock Design/Inlay Kit performs exactly as claimed. I was very pleased with the results and would love to see additional templates (borders, fleur de Lis, …). It contains everything you need (even a pencil bushing to draw your designs before applying them) and takes no time at all to assemble and use the kit to create designs, inlays, and lace work. The only downside is the construction of the plastic frame. It comes in two pieces that must be snapped together. The connection does not feel very durable. It would probably be best to never try to take the frame apart after initially putting it together. It also appears that due to the plastic construction, repeated insertion and removal of templates from the frame will eventually result in a loose fit or a broken template. Of course, for the price one cannot really expect more. With care, it will last long enough to get far more than your money’s worth out of it. Overall, I really like this product for a quick way to add some elegance to an otherwise plain project.

I was quite surprised by the quality of all that was supplied. It even came with a couple of inlay router bits, which if purchased seperately would at least been half the price of the entire kit. It is extremely easy to set up and use. The instructions are complete and well stated. I am looking forward to being able to do more with my inlaying as the result of purchasing this kit.

I’m still leaning how to use this product. So far the directions are not very clear. Does not have bushing required for inlay on directions. After a couple of tries did get easier to use even with wrong bushing . Wish directions had more hints of designs. Video provided makes product look simple. wish they had plate for router to fit palm router, called company and was told was being released in 2nd quarter of 2014.
