The Milescraft HingeMate350 is a complete door installation kit for routing hinge, strike and latch plate mortises with a router bit, hinge bit & corner chisel included. Increase security and privacy in your home by replacing doors without damaging the door or jamb with this door mortising kit. By routing matching mortises for hinges, strike plates and latch plates into the door and jamb, you won’t have to tear a hole in the wall just to hang a better wooden door.

Works well with careful alignment. The jig can shift if pilot holes are not utilized when positioning the jig. I recommend clamping the jig in place before securing with the screws provided.

I used this on three new doors, if your planning on painting them (you have to screw them in to the door) it works perfectly. I double checked everything on the first door before routing and then went for it with the other doors because it worked so well. Very happy with the options and flexibility. Be careful when putting the router into position the templates are plastic and can be routed very quickly.

Works great but the stencil markings indicating door front are wrong which for this nincompoop is a little nerve racking thinking I have something backwards. The measuring to the template center line is a little tough to use but a piece of thread between the two indicators helps. Otherwise dose the job very well

I was pleased with the jig it’s exactly what it should do. Just wish I would’ve bought the metal jigs versus the plastic. I am a Carpenter by trade and just recently purchased for a door job. I would recommend this product.

I’ve been using the old fashion templates for a very long time. They still work well but they are limited for hinges only. One for 3 1/2′ and another for 4″ hinges. They are good for standard door hinges only. This set is a must for for every thing else like strike and latch plates as well as the square chisel for square hinges. Also when replacing doors that were not installed with a full length template, then a set like this is necessary so you can place it wherever they need to be to match the jamb. With this set I can do what took about $200.00 worth of other tools. I really like this set. Very good value.

Not a big fan of this Hingmate 350 it would be nice to of had some instructions on how to use it. Its hard to use. It did have vague instructions. To use it acutely you need to people. I guess i am used to the one i had easy to use no need to use screws to hold it down.There are so many pieces to this kit i wished it had a case to store them in. .

First, this is definitely not ‘frustration-free’ packaging. In fact, there’s a reasonable chance you’ll slice your hand with a razor knife or the sharp edges of the plastic. Keep a First-Aid station nearby.So what do the made-in-China components look like? Cheap.Are the parts marked as shown in the poorly-written instructions? No. Further, if they’d put the pages for each language together, it’d be easier to read and you could toss two-thirds of the clumsy booklet.It’s nice that the not-too-common bit [1/2D w 5/8 bearing on a 1/4 shaft] and corner chisel are included. Owing to the depth of the templates’ sidewall, the deepest pocket you’ll be able to rout will be ~ 0.250″ … but most hinge installs require 0.090″. The baseplate of your router will sit approx 0.80″ above the worksurface.I do not like the fact that you will have to screw into edges that will be visible to secure the template in place; I prefer clamping actions.The centering pilot drill for the screw holes requires a lot of lubrication to get it to start moving.

This kit contains all of the tools that I need to do a professional job installing hinges onto doors, and door frames. It also has the templates needed to cut the mortises for strip plates. The system is easy to use. The instructions are clear and simple. The kit includes the center drill tool to drill perfect holes for hinges, and the square chisel to cut out the corners for the hinges. There are so many pieces to this kit, that I wish that it came with some kind of storage box or bag to keep it all together in.
