In 1994, doing electrical work at the time,I needed a replacement drill, so as I was going through the power tool aisle in the hardware store, I remember using Milwaukee power tools back in 1983 when I started in the electrical trade, how tough and durable the Milwaukee tools were compared to the other brands, they never quit no matter how hard we used and abused them, the motors never burnt out, or any gears or cases ever broke, so I purchased the 75th anniversary 3/8″ Magnum® Drill, and it has given me great service hard as I used it over the years, so otherwise aside from the battle scars and scratches it still looks great, so like me this drill is retired to do occasional heavy work if I don’t want to use the battery drills, so hopefully I am looking forward to purchasing the 100th anniversary 3/8″ Magnum® drill strictly for a collectors item a few years from now as a companion to my 75th anniversary 3/8″ Magnum® drill.

This drill came assembled and ready to use. I put this drill to work immediately as I needed to drill some 1 1/2” holes in rough sawn cedar. After 30 minutes of use there were no issues Noted. The casing was cool to the touch during my wipe down and storage. This drill motor is a great tool and there is nothing wimpy about it. You will not be disappointed.

This 3/8 inch drill has a complete metal housing for the motor, gears, spindle, and chuck. Ball and spindle bearings in several places. A powerful motor with rated less AMPs than other drills. Includes handle.

The Milwaukee #0233-20 Magnum drill is probably the last of the affordable, heavy duty drills made by Milwaukee for the serious DIY’r. Gone are the days of the all metal drills. This is the standard that other drills are compared to now. Old school all metal gear box mounts hardened shafts and gears with roller and ball bearings securely. Removable side handle threads directly into the gearbox on either side at 90 degrees. Pointer finger grooves and 2 finger trigger facilitate easy use as a power screwdriver. An extra set of brushes are stored in modular side door making changing brushes a snap. Uses less amps than comparable drills, but doesn’t get hot. Short length and near vertical grip facilitates between stud drilling with stubby power auger bits for rough-in wiring. Why only 4 stars? This drill lacks a keyed chuck. The keyless chuck is great for 1/4″ hex bits, but will spin round bits if drilling steel. A aftermarket 3/8-24 thread, keyed chuck should be considered to fully take advantage of the torque this beast develops! At less than $100, this is a solid value drill that will last.
