Arrived on time, and the drill itself lives up to Milwaukee’s reputation as being one of the best brands on the market for power tools.

I bought this for my husband as a birthday present. (He picked it out, so I knew it was exactly what he wanted.). He absolutely loves it! He’s already used it for a big project, and I know he will use it for many years.

I chose this drill for the motor rating which I need. So far it provides the torque I need.

In general I like this drill, but it’s not perfect: I replaced my 15 year old black an decker that actually still worked but the cord was frayed and I was worried about being electrocuted.Pros:Heavy DutyLots of TorqueCons:Large diameter chuckVariable speed control touchyHeavy

This is the 2nd Milwaukee 3/8 in. 2,800 RPM Tradesman Drill I have purchased. The first developed a tiny wobble after about 8 years of fairly heavy use. I probably could have used it a few more years but I decided to purchase a new one and give the old one to a friend who would only use it occasionally. I certainly received every penny’s worth of my purchase. The drill can deliver almost unbelievable torque! The variable speed switch gives you great control of the speed and torque. The cord is heavy duty yet very flexible. The keyless chuck opens and closes perfectly never gets stuck. The drill fits comfortably in ones hand. I doubt if there is a better drill in this price range.

An old school drill at its best!

This drill meets all of my expectations.

Wish chuck would grip well under pressure, lever made for direction of rotation is cheaply made. Will see if it withstands the test of time

Great company and great drill. I hope this one lasts 26 years like my last one from them did.

This drill was as advertised, light weight, powerful with three speed capabilities and more importantly, affordable.Would highly recommend this drill for around the home and garage work.

This unit has good power and is very well made over all, but the chuck is a modern hand-tightened one (versus the old style with the chuck key). It is not good. I cannot get it to tighten down enough in many cases. It has bearing problems so that it wants to stick at several places in its range, mostly for very small or large bits – most of the middle range is just fine. The chuck and collar are rather small, so that it is difficult to get two hands on it to open or close the chuck. I have a problem with this for *every* bit I use, *every* time. It is quite annoying when you are under the Jeep drilling out rusted, snapped-off Grade 5 suspension or bumper bolts and have to change the bit on a regular basis. I bought this SPECIFICALLY to replace my 18V Makita and 18V Craftsman drills as I was draining batteries right and left with all this sustained use. Further, this drill is poorly balanced compared to even my $19 single speed, corded Black & Decker. It is fatiguing to hold for any length of time as the handle is so short and the snout so long. I needed a drill that could help me get rid of all 40 rusted out bolt stubs in this Jeep frame that I am restoring and building up, with adequate power and strength/torque for the job and with a cord so that I was not praying to the Battery Gods all the time. This one did an excellent job with that, so I will definitely recommend it. It is a solid motor and gear set in a tough housing. However, the chuck just plain stinks and the drill’s balance is poor in the hand. I like this drill a lot and will investigate chuck alternatives. I do not know whether this one can be replaced. If so, that might make me much happier, along with some lead golf club tape to wrap around the handle so the snout of this thing does not want to pull down so hard all the time. That is really a hassle if you are using a 1/2″ bit that is four inches long and doing so for hours at a time. Excellent drill, overall. Just these two problems. Oh, and no case. A case would have been a nice touch and would not have added much to the very low price. Come on, Milwaukee. Get this package up the the standards of your other gear. A cheap, blown-plastic case is the norm these days. All power tools ought to come with a case since they cost you pennies to make and you can make up some of that with a very inexpensive card stock slip sleeve for packaging rather than the more costly, very nice corrugated cardboard box I paid for and then threw away because it was damaged by the Home Depot child who uncrated it.

Delivered to my house. Arrived quickly without damage. I bought this to replace a 35 year old Crafysman 3/8. It’s very powerful and well balanced. Some have mentioned issues with the chuck. I have not had any problems so far. It holds everything tight including regular drill bits and wood boring bits.

After many years of using cordless drive I finally got tired of not having charged batteries when I needed them, so I went to the corded side.Drill is all I expected and delivery was on time at good price.Only knock is that the rpm on this model is higher than cordless and thus low speed use for securing items by screws is more touchy…need more practice!

Drill seems solid but it is for fairly light use. Drilling pilot holes, using a wire brush, it runs great. It doesn’t feel all that much more powerful than my cordless 18v Porter Cable though and I was really looking for something with more power. Should have gone up one level. I used it to drive some 4.5″ lag screws (not the right tool for the job, I know, but I had loaned out my impact driver – still, I didn’t think it was anything particularly out of line I was asking it to do) and it just couldn’t do it. It actually smoked a couple of times and stopped before it could finish them off. Probably plenty of drill for most applications though.
