This cordless 4-Volt Screwdriver incorporates the latest Milwaukee core technologies in motor, Red Link Intelligence electronics and Red lithium 2.0 batteries, increasing the tool’s power and run-time, while shrinking its size. It has a 21 position clutch with auto shut-off that stops rotation of the bit once the desired torque setting is met. The quick-change chuck allows for one-handed bit changes, and a snug bit grip prevents dropped screws when the screwdriver is inverted. Drill mode easily drills pilot holes or removes damaged screws.

i use this everyday to install low voltage equipment. The battery life is fantastic!small enough to fit in your pocket or pouch, powerful enough to drive long screws into hard wood. A very good product to use for installation.

My first Milwaukee screwdriver lasted over 20 years I replace the battery several times I can’t remember how many times I drop it, It’s still working but i bought a new one for work and put the old one for backup

I bought this because I already own the kit with two batteries and a charger, and decided to keep one for work and one for home. The battery life is great. It’s lightweight and good for everyday use, and it’s perfect for what I had originally intended: laptop and PC repair. Many years ago, Craftsman made a mini cordless screwdriver with high speed and low torque that was perfect for field service computer repair. Unfortunately, I left mine on the trunk of my car while loading parts and it suffered a horrible fate on the highway. Ever since, I have been looking for a suitable replacement. Most cordless screwdrivers operate below 200 RPM which is about what you can achieve by spinning the shaft of a hand screwdriver between your thumb and fingers.Leave it to Milwaukee to make a much improved version of the high speed / low torque cordless screwdriver. My co-worker has a competitors heavy 4v that (apparently) is made of cast iron and lead. not ideal for precision work.I haven’t really tested the upper end of the torque range because I have an M12 drill and impact driver for that.Bottom line: Would I buy it again? I already have!

I bought the $66 drill because i repair electronics and needed a tool to remove the insane amount of small screws from laptops and flat screens. The price is very steep for just the drill, compared to the dewalt cordless screwdriver/w gyro tech (it is $69.00, it comes with a battery and a charger). I never used milwaukee, so i gave it a shot. I hooked it up to my bench power supply and first noticed that it does not have a motor shaft brake like the dewalt. When you let go of the drive switch it continues to spin for a 1/4 turn, which is not good on the soft screws in electronics. The torque adjustments are too strong, even at level 2, the lowest. I am right handed and i noticed that the drive/reverse buttons are placed for right handers only, not good for lefties. The speed level switch is tough to adjust. Accessories for this drill are not sold at any of my local home depots and i have given up on this thing. I have owned it for a little over a week now and decided to give it to my brother for christmas. I bought the dewalt. Now it is his problem to find a battery with a charger, under $60, lol. There is nothing i liked about this model and i regret buying it.

I’m a VERY frequent user of the M4 power-screwdriver. A power screwdriver is invaluable for what I do. It works fairly well for me, but after only 2 years a lot of the lettering paint is worn off, and my boss’s cheapo Matebo has a guard for the angle-fold to stop your hand from being pinched. I HAVE pinched my hand on this multiple times. I would really like this feature in a Milwaukee. Also, it would be even more convenient if it was changed to use M12 batteries but retained the same peak motor torque. The M12 screwdriver does NOT have the form factor that works for our work. The drill shape makes it much too bulky. As far as I know literally no other tool uses M4 batteries, and so I have to have a charger in my box just for this one tool. I’d love to exclusively keep M12 based devices in my mobile tool kit.Overall, The relatively low motor torque, and sensitive peak-torque sensing (numbered collar near the tip) of the current M4 works fantastic in the electronics field, or in any field with a high likelihood of stripping, over-torquing, or breaking screws. The torque makes the M4 able to work with very small screws safely. But it also has the ability to loosen very tight screws and nuts. Even into “Bolt” territory. With either the 1st gear in the transmission or by the fact that the output shaft locks to the body so you can use the whole tool to loosen or tighten something. Ive used the body of the tool to loosene bolts that it had no business loosening. And it’s held together like a champ.I would assume that with the right motor and transmission design it could utilize the M12 battery and retain the same features. Or even possibly just electronically cut the 12v of the M12 to the 4v of the M4. Whether by running the M12 in parallel if the inter-cell lugs on the outside of the battery can handle tool current.Either way, this is a solid and reliable product from Milwaukee that will get the job done. But I wouldn’t expect it to meet 100% of the premium standards that other Milwaukee tools meet nowadays.

M4 cordless screwdriver is a great tool but our company buys another brand’s 7.2 volt (NiCad) models for the extra torque capability in a compact package. You should develop a (Li-on) model with 80 in pounds of torque with the M4’s precision style clutch and add an LED for better vision in dark areas. Keep the front of the tool slim, even if the handle has to slightly increase in diameter for bigger battery. This would fill the niche between the M4 and the M12 pistol grip which is a bit much for some smaller fasteners which require precision fastening in tight spots.

I’m surprised Milwaukee doesn’t tell us the improvements over the previous model with the gray colored head. The older model is rated at 30 in-lbs vs 44 in-lbs, a significant increase for this new model. It’s lighter. I weighed both models, the older one at 1.160 vs 1.005 lbs (both with batteries installed). It’s shorter, providing better handling. The handle, with the rubber inserts feels like it has a better grip compared to the previous model.A complaint on the previous model was that the battery would fall out in use. The battery in this model seems to lock in more securely. All of these refinements make for a much better driver. Is it worth upgrading to this new driver? If your older unit is still working good then probably not. If you a tech junky like me that must have the best, then yes, upgrade!

This new screwdriver is lighter and it seems that the savings comes from the battery. The old battery is labeled 3.0Ah, whereas the new one is labelled 2.0Ah. The new charger is rated for 3A and the old charger is rated for 6A. The new charger takes 45 minutes as opposed to the old charger which took 30 minutes. As far as using the tool goes, battery life seems ok, but it is too new to be sure. Perhaps the screwdriver is more efficient and battery life will be similar. From Milwaukee’s description, I expect “50 percent more runtime” than the 0490-20 screwdriver and I remain cautiously optimistic. I believe the 0490-20 to be the absolute best among straight stick power screwdrivers except perhaps this new one.

I use this tool to build control panels. it works great as do all my Milwaukee tools. The only thing tat would make it better is a light like several other brands have.

I am an electrician and we do mainly commercial work. I had this tool for a little over 3 years. I used it daily from putting in devices to mounting boxes on metal studs or on wood studs when my impact wasn’t close enough. It was dropped several times, rained on several times and pretty much abused. While the torque isn’t fantastic, that’s what they make 18v things for, it was the one tool I always depended on. The only problem is someone wanted it worse and now I’m going to have to get another. As far as having more money invested in my 18v tools than I want to add up, I will invest the small amount for this little M4. You can have the M12’s, they are cute but don’t have the power I want and get from the 18’s. Life is just much simpler with this little tool.

Currently we have received 2 M4 screwdrivers. Each screwdriver has a different chuck assembly. Recently we returned a defective M4 screwdriver because the chuck quit working properly; the bit kept falling out. It was interesting to see 2 brand new screwdrivers come in with visibly different chuck assemblies. At this time both screwdrivers are in service and performing as expected.
