The Milwaukee M12 FUEL SURGE 1/4 in. Hex Hydraulic Driver is the industry’s first 12-Volt hydraulic impact driver. Performance is not sacrificed despite lower peak torque due to its Longer Sustained Torque that allows the tool to complete core users most common applications. The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor delivers up to 0 RPM-3,000 RPM with constant power output to drive screws faster. Built-in REDLINK PLUS intelligence is the most advanced electronic system on the market, preventing damage to the user’s tool and battery caused by overloading or overheating. The cordless impact driver is compatible with all Milwaukee M12 REDLITHIUM Compact Batteries or Extended Capacity Batteries, delivering users with more work per charge and more work over the life of the pack than competitive batteries. The impact driver’s 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL provides users with greater control over output speed and power for greater versatility in a wide range of applications. I’ve owned the M-12 Fuel impact driver and drill for years now and been happy.I decided to upgrade to the new M-12 Surge impact and I’m very happy. More power, extra setting and quieter! Even the people who use other brands have made great comments about it! I build sets and scenery in Tv/Feature industry and use it every day. It’s physically smaller than the Fuel, but slightly heavier. That’s ok though, as the performance makes up for it!It fits very well in my right side Occidental tool bag and I don’t need a special holder! Milwaukee definitely hit a home run!

Out of the box it drove well and made easy work of the backing we were installing.However and because it was close by I grabbed it to set some 5/8” pan heads through 3/16” angle aluminum and it almost popped the head on every one. Re-drilled the material and back off a little and was fine but initially it was a little too much.All in, I like the tool but have to be a little more careful.

First I bought the 18v surge driver and I love both of them the 12v mainly because of its size and weight. But both are incredible since first, it’s nearly impossible to strip out the head of a fastener (unless there head is already deteriorated or your not using the correct bit for mating with fastener) and second it’s so quiet and very little vibration. These are the only option as far as I’m concerned. Dewalt made something kinda similar, but Milwaukee is easily better.
