The Milwaukee M12 FUEL SURGE 1/4 in. Hex Hydraulic Driver is the industry’s first 12-Volt hydraulic impact driver. Featuring the FLUID-DRIVE Hydraulic Powertrain, the hydraulic impact will allow users to experience operation up to 2X quieter with less vibration for smoother and faster driving speeds compared to standard impacts. The compact size of the tool and battery provides users with unmatched access in tight spaces & allows for easy transport on a tool belt and easy fitting into a job site tool bag. Performance is not sacrificed despite lower peak torque due to its Longer Sustained Torque that allows the tool to complete core users most common applications. The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor delivers up to 0 RPM-3,000 RPM with constant power output to drive screws faster. Built-in REDLINK PLUS intelligence is the most advanced electronic system on the market, preventing damage to the user’s tool and battery caused by overloading or overheating. The cordless impact driver is compatible with all Milwaukee M12 REDLITHIUM Compact Batteries or Extended Capacity Batteries, delivering users with more work per charge and more work over the life of the pack than competitive batteries. The impact driver’s 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL provides users with greater control over output speed and power for greater versatility in a wide range of applications. Self-Tapping Screw Mode reduces walking when users are self-tapping screws as well as reduces overdriving, breaking and stripping out screws.
- FLUID-DRIVE hydraulic powertrain reduces metal on metal contact within the tool, delivering quieter operation, smoother performance and increased durability over a standard impact
- Longer sustained torque delivers similar drive times in application as most 12-Volt impact drivers
- Up to 2X quieter operation makes this tool ideal for occupied spaces
- Compact head length and compact battery footprint gives more access than competitive impact drivers
- POWERSTATE brushless motor delivers maximum power and long motor life
- REDLINK PLUS intelligence prevents damage to the tool and battery due to overloading or overheating
- REDLITHIUM batteries deliver more work per charge and more work over the life of the battery
- Includes: 2551-20 (tool-only), belt clip

I use it on fixing cars, wood works and it has been awesome

The only thing I would change is to move setting selector some where else,,,also would be nice to make a magnetic strip on top

This impact has the torque and power you wouldn’t expect. It’s stronger then my gen 2 fuel impact.

My only regret is not getting this sooner. I cant really tell a difference in power but it’s so much quieter and has much less vibration than the standard model.

I bought a new 12 volt after my 18 volt version walked away from the job site. I love this tool. It has power to drive big 6” construction screws but is really light in my hand. Even the little battery generally lasts a really long time. What I love most about it is the hydraulic drive-I have driven hundreds and hundreds of screws with it and have yet to strip a head or snap a shaft

best 1/4 driver that i have used. good balance and power. can’t wait to upgrade my power tools to milwaukee surge line

The surge is a quiet compact impact. If I had to complain it would be to improve the led light to a 3 light. For dark areas you have a shadow right on top of your target.

I’ve been nothing but pleased with this little gem. Tons of the Fuel power I expect in an ultra compact package. And it’s way quieter than any other Impact I own. Ear Pro is still advised but I am sure anyone who gets this will be a happy camper.

I’ve been using around the house for small projects and large even . Attached a socket the other day and took off a neighbors trailer wheel when it was flat for him

I’m rebuilding the front entry to my house, and with a 9 month old in the house this has been my go to impact driver. Batteries last a long time and no drop off in power. Not the strongest impact I’ve ever used but more than enough for ledger screws and metal connector fasteners, and the difference in noise is amazing. Less disturbance to my daughter and the neighbors.

I have other FUEL tools but the SURGE version is a nice update. Virtually the same as it’s non Surge cousin but much quieter for late night and early morning work.

This drill works really well. It can drive 2 1/2 inch screws without a problem if the need arises. Works really well driving self tapping screws into duct work. Works great for setting drywall screws. With this drill, youv have lots of control over the depth you set them. The one thing that is a little frustrating with this drill is the light. It works great but often gets covered by a finger while drilling, which is a bummer because I need the light to see what I’m doing. Overall, it is a very useful tool that is used daily on the job.

The Good:I purchased this online as a kit a little more than a year ago and I absolutely love it! this is hands-down way better than Milwaukee’s Fuel M12 impact, which i own. I use it for doing HVAC work hanging ductwork. this is by far the best compact impact you can buy.The Bad:1- I now have two batteries that are going bad. after doing some online research there seems to be some issues with the contact points between the batteries and the impact itself. I always let the batteries run out before I charge them, and I never charge them using a generator. 2- my second issue, is the LED battery indicator lights on the side of the impact are almost nonexistent now. it’s getting extremely difficult to tell what the battery level is.overall would I recommend this to somebody else? Yes. I know the batteries are expensive to replace those and even with the LED indicator lights not working this is still a phenomenal impact.

I’ve used this impact from small projects around the house to more serious projects out in the barn and this driver is excellent. The speed controls are really convenient to fit the situation, the self tapping screw mode works incredibly, and it runs very noticeably quieter then non-hydraulic-driven impacts I’ve used/been around. Absolutely would recommend this to anyone from the casual weekend warrior do-it-yourselfer to the hard working men and women in the workforce.

I’ve used the Milwaukee M12 FUEL™ SURGE™ 1/4″ Hex Hydraulic Driver (2551) for small fasteners and even drove 6″x5/16″ screws for a fascia repair. I have the Fuel 18v impactor but most cases, the Milwaukee M12 FUEL™ SURGE™ 1/4″ Hex Hydraulic Driver is more controllable and way quieter. I really like the adjustable torque/drill button, a great way to control your driving.

I have had 18v 12 v fuel and non fuel impacts….the 12v hydraulic impact is the best yet. Metal to metal fastener mode is. Great. Only thought is light could be better

This driver is powerful, quiet and fast. I like the adjustable speed rate.

I’ve been using this thing non-stop since I bought it and I’m impressed. I like the different settings. I recently put an office chair together and was using the #1 setting for self tapping screws to assemble and it worked great without too much power. A 2.0ah battery lasts quite a long time. I also noticed that how much quiet it is compared to my other impact driver.

Great little driver with alot of power. Easy to just keep on your belt.
