I am a toolholic. I love tools. Recently replaced all the doors in my house. The impact driver took out the painted screws easily. The drill had to cut for door handles in solid oak doors. It tended to get a bit hot so had to let cool down for a while. It nevertheless performed like a champ.

The little Surge impact is impressive. It does more work than my 18v Ridgid impact in half the weight and size. Battery life is amazing and the performance only slows down at the very end of a charge. Charging time is about 10 minutes on the smaller battery. Extremely pleased with this set.

Great quality, light weight, excellent run time and more power than I expected given that’s its “only” the 12volt system!

My present drill and impact driver are very old and it is getting harder to get batteries for them. I am very pleased with this set. They are both small in size but two or three times the power of my present set. Be careful it is easy to twist screw head off with the impact driver. It does have four settings, use them. This driver is hydraulic so is probably twice as quiet as my old one. The drill also has a hammer setting that is powerful and can bore into concrete easily. The chuck is 1/2″ and it has the power to handle big bits. I love the size because they fit in small spaces without compromising power and they are light weight. The motors are brushless. It comes with two batteries. One standard one long life, both lithium. They hold the charge for a very long time. I have yet to deplete them but do keep the charged and ready for use.

This is another excellent Milwaukee tool set. This drill and driver are perfect for small jobs and are able to do even heavy work for short periods. The driver is smaller than the 18V workhorse and are comfortable in your hands. It’s very quiet. The convenient small case makes it easy for quick response to picture hanging and smaller screwing jobs. Probably would be able to build a few cabinets. The drill is a small package with a big life. The chuck is similar to the large (18V) version and has adjustments for power/torque. The Driver have power levels that adjust very easily. The batteries have surprisingly long life. Not to be expected for daily journeyman level work. Perfect for all homeowner jobs.

Milwaukee is known for producing high quality tools and accessories, and this kit is right up there with the best of them. Two batteries means never having to wait around for a charge. Just pop one on the charger while using the other one. The impact driver has a lot of uses around my home, as does the drill. They are small enough to carry anywhere and powerful enough for almost any job. Each tool has a nice work light that shuts off automatically when tool is not used for a minute.

Nice solid tools. I was a little surprised about the weight of these 12V tools. The housing around the gears is metal and I think that contributes to the solid weight. My 12V Bosch is noticably lighter and my 18V Ryobi not much heavier. The belt clips are nice but they are for normal belts, not belts that hold compartments for screws, etc. The 4 amp hour battery is large for a drill or impact driver. But it is much more compact than the 4 amp hour Ryobi batteries. The only drawback I have noticed is the clutch of the drill will not go down low enough for really little screws. The Ryobi will. But the 12V Milwaukee seems to be able to do all the work of the 18V Ryobi. The impact is also nicely quiet and having multiple speeds is very handy. You can turn it down and it will go to impact much earlier to help with control on smaller screws. It is MUCH nicer than my Ryobi impact. I included some pictures showing the size relative to the other tools I mention.

I like the concept of having two batteries available, whether fully charged or being charged. And one size fits all is a great idea. Drill itself is very powerful for what appears to be a small unit. The small size let me get into tight places without need for extension bits and the problems occurring with them. The impact driver was tested on car tire bolts installed with an air hammer, and was surprised that they came off quite easily. Also used to get into close fitting with a Troy Bilt lawn tractor quite easily.

I really like this kit. The bag is nice and the drills, batteries and charger are well stored in it. I have not used the drills that much yet but they feel very powerful for 12 volt drills. The noise level is quiet enough. Overall, I’m very satisfied.

Love this set. I recently purchased another Milwaukee 18V drill but I wanted something smaller for medium sized jobs and this was it!! This has the power you need but in a smaller size. The impact drill has a nice little button on top where you can select the speed you want and the more traditional drill has all the features you would want like hammer, clutch and standard drilling.

These are wonderful tools however the “case” is a joke some suit at Milwaukee must think this glorified packaging is useful. The disappearance of the plastic tool case is not a good deal, these cases are important for keeping tools in trucks and job boxes. The ongoing substitution of these useless bags is pretty frustrating

Great tools! I have replaced my older ryobi tools with this Milwaukee set. These tools feel rock solid in your hands, and they aren’t big or bulky, they are designed to fit your hand well, and the balance point is great. The impact driver runs very smoothly and is quite powerful. It should make short work of driving in screws or removing screws. The drill is very smooth in forward and reverse and no dead spots on the trigger at all.Buy quality like this, and you won’t regret it.Also, it comes with a nice case, charger, and lastly…. The LED lights are very good. I have had some tools that have a very narrow light area. This one it is properly spread out and well designed.

A top notch compact tool kit that is made with quality materials and packed with a lot of features. The design and quality of this hammer drill/impact driver kit is equal to other power tools from Milwaukee and is why so many professionals that expect there tools to work as hard as they do use this brand. I have been looking for a 12V drill/impact driver kit for a while and was happy this kit became available. When I first received this impact driver and drill combo kit the weight of the impact driver surprised me. It is quite a bit heavier then I anticipated but the weight is well balanced in the head of tool. I am really pleased with the amount of time that each battery lasts especially the 3.0 AH battery. Both the hammer drill and impact driver have 4 LED’s in the left side of handles near forward/reverse button to show the charge status of the battery. The FLUID- DRIVE hydraulic impact driver is strong enough to sink a 4 inch long lag screw into a solid wood base but also able to gently put a small screw into a cabinet hinge via a four setting push button speed selector. It is a lot quieter then the Ridgid 12V impact driver that I previously owned and the 18 volt Milwaukee I have been using. The hammer drill works nicely in all three mode settings ( drill, driver and hammer drill ) and has the typical two speed selector on top. It took a little while for me to get use to a drill with a clutch that also controls a delay in movement of chuck when trigger is squeezed. The lower the number clutch is set at the more delay in chuck movement that makes controlled drilling easier. I have used this tool kit to secure a small floor safe to a solid wooden base, install a bedroom door knob as well as several other tasks around the home. This kit comes in a nicely embroidered contractor bag with a strong handle on top and a large zipper pull. A combination of elastic and velcro straps keep each tool, batteries and charger secure in bag which works OK for home owners and DIYers, but I can not see contractors spending the time placing tools in and out of loops and straps.

A great combination of 12V driving & drilling tools – a 1/4″ hex hydraulic driver and 1/2″ hammer drill /driver – they are powerful, compact, durable and lightweight (see photos – weights shown with 2.0Ah battery, add 8.5 oz for 4.0Ah battery). The SURGE Hex Driver has a 4 mode drive control selector switch located on top of the body (see photo) – 3 speed modes and a self-tapping sheet metal screw mode. The hydraulic hammer starts almost inaudible and ramps up as needed, the hammering is more of a dampened physical impulse rather than a jarring hammer action. Compared to a simple drill/driver – this hydraulic assist reduces the amount of twist your wrist has to counteract. The driver does not have selectable clutch settings, but relies on the 3 speed modes to minimize overdriving – you still have to time your trigger release. The speeds are variable at each mode; 1) 0-1100 RPM; 2) 0-2200 RPM; 3) 0-3200 RPM. The self-tapping screw mode does have automatic shut-off and works well when driving into sheet metal. The Drill/Driver has a 2 speed slide switch on top of the body (see photo) and a rotary mode selector collar behind the chuck. For driving screws (hammer assist not available) this has selectable clutch settings (1-17) along with modes for drilling with or without hammer assist. The 1/2″ hammer drill/driver is the perfect complement to the hex driver – since the SURGE is now my dedicated driver – this is now my dedicated drill. A nice detail – the storage/carrying case has an over sized zipper pull (with a finger hole) makes opening and closing – even when wearing gloves – very easy (see photo).

This is a powerful pairing of compact hammer drill/driver and hydraulic nut driver. Both feel solid and reliable in the hand and have clear controls and good feedback. The kit includes two battery types; the slimmer CP 2.0 battery charged fully in just thirty minutes and bigger XC 4.0 battery in 60 minutes. Both battery types fit both tools so if battery longevity is best select the XC 4.0 but if compactness is more important select the smaller CP 2.0 battery. Watch a brief demonstration of the tools in the video. One of the best time saving features for me is the fact that bit holders (not included) slide straight in to the nut driver jaws and are immediately locked in and held firmly. No having to open the jaws to insert the bit holder. Excellent! The five piece kit comes with a custom designed soft case. I found the elastic sleeves a bit fiddly to use because the rubber handles grip the elastic too well but there are also Velcro straps to keep the tools in place. Still, that minor point does not take anything away from this excellent kit and I expect use will reduce the clinginess of the materials.

I didn’t use it that much but the noise level of the impact driver is much lower than the mechanical one.
