The Milwaukee M18 Compact ½ in. Drill/Driver is the most compact and powerful drill/driver in its class. The compact drill is built with a 4-Pole frameless motor and delivers 500 in. lbs. of torque and up to 1,800 RPM. The drill/driver is compact at only 7-1/4 in. in length, giving users better access to the tightest work spaces. An all-metal gear case and 1/2 in. metal chuck provides users with maximum durability, even on the most challenging job sites. REDLINK Intelligence provides advanced protection in heavy duty applications and manages the tool’s temperature to ensure maximum life. The REDLITHIUM CP1.5 Battery Packs deliver more work per charge and more work over pack life when compared to competitors. In addition to the compact drill/driver, the kit includes two M18 CP1.5 REDLITHIUM batteries, an M18/M12 multi-voltage charger, and a carrying case.

The drill itself is not bad, great power to chew through aluminum even with a 1/2″ bit. However, if you use smaller bits you notice a fair bit of run-out from the chuck as it rotates which makes drilling fine holes difficult. Even if using a self centering drill bit you need to use a center punch to make a pilot otherwise the bit walks off.

This is a good, stout tool. Working commercial construction, I put it through just about as much of a wringer as anyone, and it holds up well. I’ve dropped it a million times without hurting it, and I get surprisingly long use out of each battery charge. I left it outdoors in the weather for 2 or 3 weeks and it worked but the jaws were seized so I thought it was trashed. After hosing the chuck down with WD 40 and letting it sit for a few days, I was able to free them up with a couple of taps with a small hammer–bingo! It works fine again. I can’t say it’s perfect, because nothing is perfect, but I don’t think I’ve ever used anything better.
