The M18 3-1/4 in. Planer delivers unmatched depth control and powerful stock removal for quick and precise material removal on soft or hard woods. The Planer’s powerful motor allows the user to remove up to 5/64 in. in a single pass for increased productivity. The depth adjustment knob’s 20 locking positions allows for multiple depth settings and precise depth control. In addition the depth adjustment knob does not rotate past the 0 or 5/64 setting which allows users to quickly identify at what depth they are cutting without needing to re-zero the dial. The M18 Planer also provides up to a 27/64 in. rabbet cut capacity offering users more depth of cut when making shiplap joints. A left or right chip ejection feature allows users to aim shavings away from their eyes or finished surfaces; increasing safety, productivity and accuracy.
- Powerful motor: delivers up to 14,000 RPM
- Chip ejection switch: allows users to select left or right chip exhaust
- Spring-loaded kickstand: prevents blade from marring finished surfaces
- Dual blade cutting head: 2 reversible carbide blades provide a smooth finish
- Bevel/edge guide: allows users to make straight, rabbet and bevel cuts up to a 45° angle

The planner came completely assembled ready to use, just plug in battery adjust the depth and go. Very useful, versatile, light, and easy to use.

This planer works wonderfully…I especially like being able to change the direction of the dust collection shoot…being left handed myself this is a very cool feature….

Awesome planer, very powerful and solid. My only complaint is that it does not include a bag to capture the wood shavings. They basically spray 3-5 feet out the side.

Cleaner works great I love the fact that you can change the direction of the exhaust

Worked great! Took small passes as to not to bog down the planer. Recommend as a buy.

It does the job. As mentioned by others, the zero setting is not really zero.My only issue is that there is no dust collection bag. When contacting Milwaukee support after failing to find a bag elsewhere, their response was, “Regarding your inquiry, the planer does not include a dust bag. However any standard 1-1/2” hose can be connected directly to either dust ejection port, allowing the user to use a vacuum to collect wood chips created by the planer.” No help there.Actually the ejection port is 1-9/16, which is just a tiny bit under the size of a nominal 1-1/2 vac hose. The hose will fit over it loosely, but not stay. I suppose I could wrap some tape around it and get a tight fit, but that is not really a solution for me. I need something that will move along without the twisting and pulling typical of vac hoses.Really rather disappointed with Milwaukee about this.

The planer is well made, powerful and fast. The micro depth adjustment is easier to use than my last planer. The exhaust direction switch is a nice touch too.

It does what I ask it to do

Ready to use out of the box with my own battery to power it of course. Very user friendly. At the push of a button you can direct the dust away from you. Setting the blade height is a breeze. Definitely 5 stars.

The Milwaukee M18 Planar is an awesome tool. I have been skimming the paint off of old redwood fence boards and this planar saved the day. I had tried using a sander, even with 40 grit, but that took way too long. The planar made quick work of taking the paint layer off. Now I can reuse the boards to build a shed. One very important note; it is necessary to have a vacuum system to collect the shavings. Milwaukee has a great vacuum system that costs about $500. I opted instead to use a shop vac that I already had and bought an adapter to fit into the Milwaukee planar exhaust. Skimming about twelve 8 to 9 ft boards almost filled the large shop vac. One more note, I am hooked on the Milwaukee M18 tools; I now have the planar, circular saw, sander, blower and Sawzall. Of course the Sawzall was the first tool that I bought and I’ve used it for so many jobs. Oh yes, and now I have five M18 batteries and two chargers. The blower and the planar especially use a lot of juice, so for big jobs, I need to rotate batteries pretty frequently. With this many tools, I definitely recommend two chargers and 4 or 5 batteries. I’m sold on Milwaukee products. So great to no longer be needing to get out extension cords for my tools.
