The Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cut Out Tool- XC Kit (2627-22) comes with the cut out tool, two Red Lithium XC batteries, a charger, belt clip, two 1/8 inch drywall bits, 1/8 inch collet, ¼ inch collet, wrench and a durable bag. The tool includes a four pole motor which spins at 28,000 RPM. Rotation speed is not adjustable. I found it to be quieter than a corded model. There are vent holes on the tool which attempt to blow dust away from the surface. The depth collar is adjustable without tools. While this is convenient, you are locked into the preset depth settings of the collar. An LED on top of the tool lights up part of the surface where one is cutting. There is an integrated button to lock the spindle and a provided wrench to loosen/tighten the collet nut. Unfortunately, there is no on board storage for the wrench. The other end of the wrench appears to be a bottle opener. The tool is less than 2 pounds, feels good in the hand and is well balanced. I had no problem controlling the tool and the included bits cut through drywall as expected. The stated warranty is 5 years.

This will last all day making cuts in drywall. Will handle the 1/4 bit but does not bog down too much but burns the battery faster. Love it with no cords.

This tool is normally used to trim out the excess sheet rock, that would cover a window, door, etc., during construction. The first job I used this tool on was cutting out & removing the glued/sealed on, 1/4″ thick plastic lids on 9 – 55 – gallon plastic drums. These drums carried supplies for my farm. I want to use the lidless drums to catch rainwater for my small orchard. I drilled a pilot hole in each lid, inserted the included 1/8″ dia. cutting bit into the collet & tightened it with the included wrench. Next, I adjusted the cutting depth guide, on the cut out tool, to accommodate the 1/4″ thickness of the plastic barrel lid. The cut out tool got up to speed in an instant. I made my cut in each of the barrels, counterclockwise. It cut fast & clean. I used only one of the two batteries, that comes with the product & I still had plenty of power left after the ninth barrel lid was cut out. I purchased an additional multipurpose 1/8″ dia. cut out bit, that would work with the 28,000 R.P.M. speed of this tool. I used the multipurpose bit in this tool to cut: counter top laminate; 1/8″ thick Masonite sheet; 3/16″ thick plywood & 9/16″ thick plywood. All cuts were quick & clean. The tool is comfortable to hold & has a ribbed rubber layer on the hand grip, that prevents slippage. The cutting depth guide provided maximum visibility of the cutting bit & work area. The product includes a 1/8″ & 1/4″ collet. A light focuses on the cutting area, when the tool is started & stays on for several seconds, after the tool is stopped. The battery quickly recharges in about 30 minutes. The included tool bag is rugged & has pockets on both sides for parts, bits, etc. The belt clip, attached to the cut out tool & hung from my tool belt, provided a safe way to transport the tool up a ladder. This is a GREAT, high quality tool!

I’m a contractor who does a lot of drywall work, not only did I buy myself one but I also bought a few more for my employees and everyone loves it ver effective and efficient only thing we all have in common when it comes to dislikes has nothing to do with the tool itself only thing that hopefully can be improved one day is the bits because so far we haven’t found a bit that last a whole day, but other then that the tools is worthy of your investment.

This Milwaukee cut-off tool is comfortable to use with great features. It weighs in at 3lb 5oz with the 3.0 Ah battery, which is fairly heavy for constant use but pretty much the same weight as most other cut-out saws, corded or battery operated. Smaller/lighter batteries are available if desired, but with half the capacity. The depth-of-cut adjustment is fast and secure, and although the bracket wobbles a bit in use it’s perfectly adequate for cutting drywall. The LED light and dust blower that blows air at the bit are very nice features to illuminate the cut line while keeping it free of dust. The LED stays on for about 10 seconds after the unit is switched off, then dims to full off. The spindle lock is firm and easy to access for changing bits, but I found the collet holds the bit tightly even after the nut is loosened. I had to pull it out with pliers and will try to spread the collet jaws to add some “spring” back into them. This kit comes with a dual-voltage smart charger, capable of charging both M18 and M12 Li-ion batteries, and 2, 3-Ah XC batteries, two 1/8 bits, a ¼ collet and a bit wrench with a bottle opener on one end – a fun touch. The heavy-duty carrying bag has 6 pockets on the outside, and if I could offer one suggestion for improvement it would be to either add a velcro flap over one of them, or put a pocket on the inside to keep small items (e.g. wrench and extra bits) secure. Overall, this is another outstanding Milwaukee tool at a great price considering the top-notch quality.
