The tool is a great addition to my Milwaukee family. Home Depot delivered it to the local store as promised keeping me informed every step of the way. Once I reached the store they were very courteous in handing it to me. The tool does exactly what it was intended to do. Still need to practice. TY

The Milwaukee M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cut Out Tool- CP Kit is a great tool for cutting out for outlet boxes or for cutting out for overhead light fixtures. The Kit comes with everything you need for a days work. Besides the tool you also get (2) batteries, a charger, (2)1/8 in cutting bits, collets, a wrench, and a bag to to carry everything. The design is very well thought out. The air vent keep the dust away from you while working. There is a worklight to illuminate your cutting area. The tool also has a belt clip! As with all Milwaukee batteries you can check the power level at any time by pushing the button on the battery. Overall a very nice addition to my tool collection. It makes cutting wallboard a breeze and super fast There is also a easy adjustment for cutting depth. I found the cut out tool very handy and easy to use.

This is definitely a specialty tool when taken at face value, most people won’t ever need to cut out enough drywall to warrant a dedicated tool for the job. However, while made for drywall, you really can put this to many other uses, just use your imagination. For professionals that work with a lot of drywall, this should be a no-brainer. Considering the price and the 2 included batteries and charger, the tool itself comes out to be rather inexpensive, provided you need batteries and have other tools in the line. If you don’t have other tools in this line, I’d suggest you get some, as I’ve used dozens of them and all have been of the highest quality.

Very nice tool set. Came with tool, battery, charger and a nice carry bag to store the tool and accessories. It feels solid in your hand yet it balanced well and made. I used it to make several plunge cuts and it had more than enough power for the task. This is a tool that you may not use regularly but comes in handy when you need to make trim or plunge cuts.

The name of the M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cut Out Tool-CP Kit should be clarified to say “M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion DRYWALL Cut Out Tool-CP Kit.” My expectation was that it would serve as a replacement for my corded roto-zip cutout tool. However, this tool’s lone application is for drywall installation. For that it is excellent. It has a vent of forced air to move the debris away from the tool and the user making it a much cleaner experience for the user. It is much lighter and easier to hold than my current corded tool. Being cordless also offers much flexibility. The depth adjustment allows the depth of the cut to be changed without handling the cutting bit. The mechanism for changing a collet is very easy as is the mechanism for tightening the bit. The kit comes with two M18 1.5 Ah batteries and a charger so that there should always be a charged battery available. The battery has an indicator button telling what quartile of power remains, e.g., 0-25%. The belt clip is the best that I have used. With it, the tool can easily be placed on one’s belt. The clip places the tool at some distance from the belt so that it does not interfere with walking. It has an LED light to make the cuts easy to see. It worked very well in cutting out for electrical boxes. The kit comes also with two drywall bits and a 1/8″ and a1/4″ collet and a tool bag. It has a 5-year tool and a 2-year battery warranty.

I’m an avid DIYer, and I doubt that 6-months passes before I encounter a project that involves drywall work – either installing new wall or replacing wall due to repairs. This is a welcome change to doing manual wallboard cutout, or using a corded zip-style rotary. I’ve used both, but none have had the true portability, and special features of this Milwaukee cutout tool. Things I like:• It’s portable. No need for cords when moving about, standing on ladders, etc. NICE.• Enough reserve power in the 2-battery kit, to allow continual use of the tool without having to stop to charge up. Putting up sheetrock is cumbersome enough for a DIYer without having to plan ahead to keep your battery charged – this takes care of that concern.• Compact all-in-one kit, contains everything needed to get started right out of the box, including extra battery and charger, a couple of bits and 2 collets – 1/8” and ¼”. No need to buy anything else, except expendable bits.• The comfortable feel of the barrel shaped tool, with strategically placed rubber “bumpers” to minimize bruising adjacent areas (see picture).• The tool stands upright (when the battery is installed), making it easy to set-down and to grab as you’re working. The weight of the battery serves to help stabilize the standing tool. • A well-placed on-off switch that minimizes the possibility of accidental starts (and injuries).• A nice tool hook incorporated into the housing, to suspend the tool from a ladder or a belt when not in use (see picture).• A work-light built-in to the nose, that comes on when the tool is turned on, and remains on briefly after shut-off, to help make accurate cuts in dark areas (see picture).• A blower outlet built-in to the nose that keeps dust/debris away from the cutting tool, to help manage an accurate cut.• A built-in depth gauge that is easily set with the push of a button on the nose housing (see picture).• Finger actuated power meter on each battery shows remaining battery reserve (see picture).• Batteries are interchangeable with other Milwaukee tool products, extending the value of this purchase.• Nice compact canvas storage case. Many kits come with big cases, this small size is perfect.Things I don’t like:• It weighs more than most typical corded zip-style rotary tools. I can see arm fatigue to be a possibility during periods of extended use.• Operating noise is very loud.• Still requires a wrench to install bits – would be nice to design a tool-less bit feature.• There is no built-in sleeve in the tool housing to store the 5/8” wrench that is supplied. Would be good if there was a place to store this in the tool, as I’m always hunting for it whenever I change bits. This is a well-made power tool, and but for the small additional heft, there are many quality advanced features that make this a worthwhile purchase. And to top it off, the 5-year warranty Milwaukee offers, simply speaks volumes about their longer-term confidence in this product.

I was waiting on this to go on sale and got a great price. I really wanted the drywall gun combo but for $125 it’s a steal. The 1.5 batteries die down quick but also charge quick and I can always use my 5.0 from my drill and impact. I would recommend this.
