The M18 Cordless 2-Speed 1/4 in. Hex Impact Driver Kit offers incredible performance and power-to-size ratio. Featuring a Milwaukee-built 4-pole frameless motor and optimized impact mechanism, this impact driver delivers up to 2750 RPM, 3450 IPM and 1500 in. lbs. of fastening torque for class-leading performance. Its unique design offers multiple speed/torque modes through proprietary 2-mode drive control and also features REDLINK Intelligence, providing overload protection using total system communication between the tool, battery and charger. I purchased this impact driver because I have a M18 drill/driver already with other M18 batteries. This impact has great speed and power. It is very small and light which makes it awesome to use in tight places or overhead. It has an ample LED light which comes on when you press the trigger. It’s much easier to drive long screws in locations where you may not be able to put lots of force behind the driver. This kit comes with the M18-M12 combo charger and a standard, heavy-duty plastic case. I purchased the Milwaukee impact driver bit set and it’s a great combo!A few specific points:1. Inserting a bit into the empty ‘quick-chuck’ requires pulling the outer ring away from the driver while inserting the bit. You cannot simply insert a bit and have it lock in. This is a little inconvenient and makes it difficult to do with one hand.2. The 2-speed functionality of the driver essentially limits the RPM of the motor. It is not like a standard 2-speed drill which changes gear ratios and allows the motor to spin at full RPM in both speeds. In this design, 1st speed allows you to pull the trigger all the way, but limits the effective ‘trigger squeeze’ to 50% or 75%. It does the job though.3. This kit comes with the smallest ‘compact’ batteries and they are what you expect. Very lightweight, relatively powerful, and with limited charge-life. Though they definitely last longer than they take to charge, even with constant use, so it’s really not an issue. I prefer the small lightweight batteries because the drill is very balanced.4. There is no on-board bit storage, but Milwaukee sells bit holders which use one 6-32 screw into the side near the battery (PN 43-72-0550). I have the belt hook on one side, and the bit holder on the other. I highly recommend purchasing a bit holder.5. The unit is a little loud. If using in small confined spaces near your head, you may want to use ear protection. Even in normal sized rooms, you cannot hold a conversation while using the impact.

I picked this tool up to compliment an 18v system for a friend of mine. The tool Performs how you would think it should for an 18v impact driver. Plenty of power, not too heavy. I also have the Milwaukee 12v “Fuel” impact, and this 18v performs almost identically to that one. The speed switch is handy when you’re working on screws you want to be careful around, and a feature not all of these impacts have on them. All in all, a solid tool, especially if you’re already have a couple M18 Milwaukee Tools.

I was very impressed with this product.The thought put into what the end user needed was apparent.Things like the light not turning off after you release the trigger showed extra thought and consideration for what features are actually needed by the user.I love the 2 speed control. Fast speed for driving 3 inch deck screws is great. However the lower speed setting is crucial for more detailed work such as installing shelving hardware or installing furniture hardware.
