Bought this kit for $270 instead of the set for $200. I wanted the (2) 3.0 xc batteries instead of the (2) 1.5 amp an hour because I use it every day and it makes a big difference having 2x as much batt. Also liked the fact you can use it as a hammer drill if you need only a couple holes. My boss has a dewalt drill and impact set and almost every day since buying this has asked if he can use mine… Actually is now going to buy this exact set ASAP he said. I recommend this to any working man or even someone who only needs it for some light useP.S. Check your local store I got an additional battery for buying set for $270 instead of $200 set so I wound up with 3-3.0 batteries

I had an old Rigid that was still serviceable, but the batter life was not very good and it was heavy. I had started shopping for a drill and the Milwaukee is a great buy. It is light yet powerful. The batter life is very good.

These tools are welcome and powerful additions to my tool chest, and I would have a very difficult time parting with them. Both have a great size and weight to them and work with Milwaukee’s M18 batteries… this is great because I have been increasing the number of Milwaukee power tools that I have and the interchangeability with the batteries on all these tools has been a great feature. Furthermore these batteries can easily last all day, and if you are concerned that you’ve been working all day and might be running low, there is a battery light indicator on the front of the battery. I have heard there are slim-line batteries available, which are a little bit smaller than the regular size batteries that came with the unit, but this is something I need to research further as a possible upgrade to the set.I will split this review into two parts, one for the Impact Drill, and one for the Impact driver:Hammer Drill:The Hammer drill has some great features and let me share some that stood out to me. First of all it has three settings on it, hammer drill (used for concrete,) regular drill, and screwdriver (see photo section.) To compliment these settings is has some strong and durable metal gears inside. The ability to have a cordless hammer drill is awesome because in the past I have had to lug around a corded hammer drill and this has not been convenient or efficient for me. This thing has a torque range of 0 – 525 in-lbs (peak torque) and a speed range of 0-1,700 RPM on the high speed setting and 0-550 RPM on the low speed setting. You are able to control between a high and low gear, right on the top of the unit (see photo section.)The drill has an actual usable LED light on the front, which comes in handy when I am working in those tight nooks and crannies where light has trouble reaching (see photo section.)Overall this drill is an excellent quality drill I see myself using for many years. I have worked primarily with other brand name (yellow) drills in the past, and don’t get me wrong I have done great work with them, but this drill compares very favorably against my old drill and definitely exceeds functionality in a few areas. I am extremely happy with this purchase. This thing does it all, but you will pay a pretty good price for it. However, I feel if you are willing to put down the money, you will be getting a product that is worth it!Impact Driver:For driving screws into wood, the majority of small jobs I have done have been manually… The difference between driving the screws manually and with this tool is NIGHT AND DAY. This thing will pretty much pay for itself with the time you save…and avoid a lot of aches in your hands/forearms! It’s very light weight (around 3 lbs.) The tool has variable speed, depending on how hard you press in the trigger, and can reach peak speed of 2,200 RPM and peak torque of 1,400 in-lbs (it is very powerful!) Another nice feature is the chuck which allows you to switch between bits with one hand (very efficient.) I also find myself utilizing the belt clip, which is very convenient on the side of the handle (see photo.) The LED light is great in this thing…very bright. One of the best tools in my tool chest.Overall:I think the 2-piece tool set is excellent and comes with some seriously powerful and seriously functional tools. I shouldn’t forget to mention the carrying bag that comes with this purchase is high quality, spacious (holds both tools, all my bits, both batteries, and the charging station) and very durable (see photo section.) I think any caliber DIY would love this product. Thumbs up!

I finally broke down and bought a Milwaukee M18 drill/driver set. The set I bought came with a free multi tool which is an excellent value for the dollar. I have a full sized corded Milwaukee Hammer Drill which is a decent drill and I use it for everything however I had to drill two1/2 inch hardened Steel bolt out from behind my wheel fender on my truck. My corded drill was to large to fit behind the wheel fender so I broke down and bought this set at home depot. I charged the batteries which took about half an hour to reach a full charge and brought it outside to drill the bolt out. The temperature was -10 degrees and I sat in front of the torpedo heater plugging away at this bolt. The power that the drill had was outstanding. I skirted buying a cordless for so long because my father owned a 15 year old Black and Decker and the battery life was terrible and it lacked any real power to get anything done. Dare I say this Milwaukee drill has more power than my corded hammer drill. When getting through to the other end of the bolt it did bind but not before it took my wrist sideways with the drill. Apparently instead of binding it has a clutch that slips to prevent damage to the drill and it worried me the sound it makes as my Milwaukee corded drill made the same sound and doesn’t seem to be as powerful as it used to be. Anyhow the drill operated flawlessly with the same power on the next bolt. The chuck on the drill is excellent and grabs the bits unlike the other drill I have I did not have to tighten it up once. The battery life held up well in the cold environment and I did not have to charge it once throughout the hours being outside. Also there are a lot of functions to the drill that make it useful for any DIY around the house (Hammer and Driver with variable torque). I only used the impact driver a couple times to plug a screw into the wall and it seemed to work fine. I mean its an impact driver I don’t see it not performing satisfactory. Overall this Drill changed my perception of cordless tools and I will defiantly be adding to the M18 arsenal in the future. I could not be happier with this purchase as always I hope it lasts in the quality department and I get years of use out of it but only time will tell in that section.

These are my first Li-ion drills, replacing old NiMH. Can’t say I’m crazy about the fade-free charging (battery dies without warning), but they certainly do last a lot longer. This is all normal. What’s not normal – on a couple of occasions, after charging one of the batteries to a full green, neither drill will would work with it (pull the trigger and dead). Tried the other battery and both drills worked fine. I stuck the bad battery back on the charger for about three seconds, just to make sure I wasn’t going crazy and confirm it was a full charge, put it back on the drill and it was fine. What!?!?? This has happened a couple times now.I’ve had the set for shy of a year.

A little disappointed with this combo kit. The kit I purchased came with a free circ. saw and it is the best part of the kit. The impact drill is really strong, may be to much torque. You have to apply a lot of pressure to prevent the screw head from stripping out. When I do finish work I turn to my Makita impact it’s smaller lighter and doesn’t strip out the head and land on my project making a star patterned hole in it. That being said, it will drive just about anything you ask it to.The drill motor is really big and heavy but is a strong drill. I noticed when using larger drill bits drilling into steel that the chuck releases the bit and that can and has caused me great pain. My main problem is the hammer setting on this drill. What’s funny is when drilling 5/8″ holes in concrete blocks the chuck would not release the bit for change out. The only way I could change the bit was by using slip-joint pliers on the chuck and manually releasing the bit. You can see the potential in destroying the chuck by this method, which I pretty much did. If this happens to you find another way to release it. Should have bought a dedicated hammer drill.I still am happy with this kit, seems to be well built.

These are excellent tools, but why would you buy this combo kit when you can get the same tools plus a sawzall (or circular saw or angle grinder or angle drill) for the same price. Search “Milwuakee M18 free” on the HD website to find combo kits with extra tools for free.

Great combo set, has alot of power. These xc batteries lasted a kitchen cabinet install with 36 cabinet & still half power left in batteries. Also batteries charge in 30 minutes.Super deal @ $249 @ Home Depot.

These are the best drill/driver that I have owned. I have used them to pre-drill and screw in well over several thousand screws. From 1 1/4 to 6″ it has plenty of power. The best thing is the battery life. With the batteries shutting down before the voltage gets to a critical low. The batteries have a much longer life span. Milwaukee has done an excellent job with their tool engineering.

Just bought the kit this week from the local store. First impressions indicate both tools are well built, compact, and balanced. The batteries charged from nothing to 100% in less than an hour. I used the impact driver to remove and rotate 4 tires, which used only 1/4 of the battery capacity. The impact driver barely had enough torque to remove the wheels, so if you plan to do this frequently you should buy a model with more torque. The hammer drill works great for drilling holes in wood, I haven’t tested the hammer function yet.

I purchased this to replace a cheap bottom shelf 12v drill that I have been using since I purchased my home a couple of years ago, and I couldn’t be happier.

I had an old Ridgid X2 Hammerdrill. It had worked excellent for about 8 years since I bought it. I opted for it because of the Lifetime Warranty. I completed all the information, registered, sent the paperwork in. Fast forward to now and I have a problem with it. I contact Ridgid and they tell me that I never registered it. 8 years later I have nothing of proof other than the tool. Now it does not work and I need new tools.I have 2 local Home Depots that are about 5 minles away. I go to the first, talk to one of the reps and he is hocking the Ridgid. I explained my problem with the previous one and he said that never happens. Once he said everything else was junk compared to Ridgid, I knew he didn’t know what he was talkign about. I head to the other Home Depot after stopping at Lowes to look at the Porter Cable and Bosch. I didn’t quite like either of them. I was talking with the sales rep at and he took me over to a stand. It had one of each of their drivers, fully powered, with different screws and lag bolts to try out on a 6×6. He spent the time going over each. Told m he would not buy the Ridgid either because the Lifetime Warranty was useless. The local repair places take 4-6 months to fix, never fix them right, and then offer for you to send it to Ridgid yourself for about $70 in shipping costs there and back. The Dewalt was nice, but never fan. The Ridgid was way over stated on power. Makita and Milwaukee wound up being the best. The problem with the Makita is that the batteries were recalled. You could buy it, but they have to send the batteries in for replacements because they do not have the recall replacements in store. We go look at the M18 combos. There is the $199 and $299 versions. I am a home DIYer so I did not need the Fuel for $399. For the two XC batters versus the 1.5AH batteries, it was worth the $299 version. He handed me the box, scanned it, and said it must be on sale. It is showing $199. The kicker was that you get a third battery or an LED light free ($99 value). I do not need a 3rd battery so I took the LED light because it may have more practical uses. He comes with me to the register, it rings up $299 (like it should). He scans it with his tool and it shows $199. They agree and charge me $199 for it. Not a bad deal at all. $398 for $199 is a 50% discount for me. If the Ridgid lasted 8 years, this set should easily get 10 years.

Milkwaukee has done it, finally batteries that will stand up to the all day use of a tradesman. The hammer drill is really a plus and the impact driver makes short work of lag bolts.
