I have used the corded version of the hole hawg for years. It has more torch then this cordless version. This probable will not be too big a problem if you are doing electrical rough-in, but will be a problem for plumbers when it comes to big pipes. I was able to stall the drill when using a cutter bit, as well as a large auger bit. I can not stall the corded version with the same bits, though I would need to use the side handle to hang onto it.That said, it is still a very useful drill. With a 1-1/2″ or smaller cutter, or a 3/4″ or smaller auger bit, it preforms well in wood. The maximum hole size depends on what battery you use. While it can use any of the M18 batteries, even the compact ones, it does the best with the 9.0Ah ones that come in the kit.This drill is lighter then the corded versions, and is easy to use with out a side handle. This is good because it doesn’t have one. It works well for drilling through studs, as well as floor joist. I expect to be using it a lot!

I use this hole hawg to drill holes in wood framing to run electrical wires. It is the best drill I have ever used for this purpose. I removed the black handle mounted on the back of the drill to give me more room for drilling in between studs. I’m able to hold onto the end of the drill body with no problem. If Milwaukee could make a fold out handle instead, It would be a better feature. The drill is very powerful also. The battery lasts a long time. I can drill more holes in less time. This drill is awesome!

I have the electric hole hawg with the chuck and it takes too much time to swap bits. And the chuck gets loose and harder to tightem. Just got the m18 fuel with the quick lock. Ill never buy another one with a chuck!!
