First off I have to say that have not seen any of the battery issues mentioned in some of the other reviews with any of my 10 M18 batteries (3 x 2.0, 2 x 4.0 and 5 x 5.0)Secondly, make sure that you have realistic expectations of this tool, or any other tool you may be buying for that matter. This tool’s -MAX- rated capacity is 1″, so don’t expect to drill holes much larger than that with a solid bit. Nor should you expect this tool to drill through brick with a 1″ bit like it was butter. I would highly recommend this tool for 5/8″ holes or smaller all day long with the occasional 3/4″- 1+1/8″ hole. If you want to drill 1″ holes all day, long this is not the rotary hammer for which you are looking.Excellent tool, very durable, fairly light for the type of tool and reasonable vibration dampening. I would recommend going to the 1-1/8″ rotary hammer though if you are going to operating on the higher side of the capacity as it is only fifty dollars more.

The drill exceeded my expectations for a cordless drill. Work just as well as a corded drill. Cut through concrete like butter

This kit was complete, and had the parts to get me straight onto the job.I have used it to drill 24 off 7/8 inch holes in asphalt/concrete, and had no problems and no significant drop-off in power from the battery.I recommend the SDS chuck for hammer drilling – no chance of the bit coming loose, and nice positive retention. The chuck wobbles a little in the machine (not the bit in the chuck), but for hammer drilling applications (i.e. not precision metalwork) it is accurate enough. I have used another, older, Milwaukee SDS hammer drill and the wobble was the same.

I have this one with the 4.0 batteries, but this drill really outpreformed. I’m a Union Bricklayer by trade, and use these corded tools constantly. The hammer on a fresh battery works about as well as a corded one. But of course with use, it does lose some power. For the most part, you have excellent power till the battery dies. The battery life varies on how rigorously you are using it, and how hard the material is. To say in the least, I was stunned at how well this cordless tool works. Hammer drill mode blows any standard hammer drill out of the water. My next purchase for this is a couple 5.0 batteries. I recommend at least 2 batteries for this tool, but that’s kind of obvious. I highly recommend this tool, and the only other cordless hammer like this I found to be comparable is the Bosch 36v. But would take the Milwaukee over the Bosch any day of the week. Plus its built to take the abuse it’s going to recieve!

The rotary drill exceed my expectations. It made short work of the holes that I had to make. I even got my wife to try it out and she totally understood why I wanted/needed a quality drill.

It’s a very nice unit if you look past the plastic teeth for the depth rod stop, and that the screws holding the handle on came loose after about 30 3/8″ holes.
