the 9.0 batteries are nice but 1” drill is not as good as the 1 1/8”

This is a fairly large kit, measuring 23x17x5.5 inches, and weighing in at just over 20 lbs. The drill and battery by itself is about 8 lbs. The kit comes with two batteries and a charger. The Milwaukee rotary hammer is replacing a corded hammer drill, which is very near the end of its life due to the heavy drilling it’s done over the years. So, what’s the difference between the two drills? The older hammer drill utilizes a standard 3-jaw chuck, accepting only round shank drill bits. The hammering action is not as powerful as that on a rotary hammer, which utilizes an internal air cylinder to provide the hammering action. The Milwaukee rotary hammer is much more powerful, and accepts only SDS or SDS-PLUS bits, which lock into place instead of being held in the chuck with friction. The hammering action of this drill is such that a 1/4″ masonry bit went through a concrete block wall like a hot knife through butter! Much faster than my old hammer drill. This Milwaukee is comfortable to use, largely due to its shock absorber. It will also provide a “hammer only” action for use with a chisel. I haven’t used it long enough to determine battery life, or how quickly it discharges. But, with two batteries on hand, there should be plenty of battery life for several hours worth of drilling. Highly recommended!

This hammer drill has surpassed my expectations. By far the best one I’ve ever used.

This is a great kit – A very handy and powerful hammer drill with 2 batteries. Batteries last a long time and recharge quickly. I have a ground rod driver bit and this drill will put an 8′ ground rod completely in the ground in just a few minutes. No more cords to unwind and no dangerous voltages! The handle has a rubber compression shock pad that doubles as an indicator to let you know the correct pressure to apply. Drill also has a handy LED light to illuminate your work area. Great tool!

Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless 1 in. SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer High Demand 9.0Ah tool has everything you need to get the job done. The fact that it is cordless is the best part. and the 18 Volt power is awesome. It comes with two batteries and a nice case helps to keep everything in place. I used this tool to install a pool fence and it worked great for the job.

Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless 1 in. SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer High Demand 9.0Ah Kit supplies everything but a drill and chisel. This tool provides a greater impact force from the rotary hammer than is possible with a regular hammer drill. Its that which makes the difference in getting work done quicker and the high capacity M18 battery means it keeps working. It comes with two M18 battery packs, a rapid battery charger, depth gauge rod and a hard carrying case. The rapid charger will top up the 9.0 Ah battery in around an hour. I’ve had a hammer drill for a long time and this is my first SDS rotary. It makes drilling concrete, chipping and removing it, so much faster. Drilling into concrete walls is a slow steady process with an ordinary hammer drill and you are limited by the chisel and drill sizes it can handle. This comes with a one inch bit collar which can handle foot long attachments. I used this on a concrete wall driving lag bolts and it was a snap. The tool made progress like it was drilling wood. The tool has a vibration absorber in the handle that dampens the impact on your hand and is also an indication of the proper pressure to apply. Its so much better not to be dragging the cord behind you and the large 9.0 Ah battery has a good reserve of power. The battery pack has intelligence in it that prevents you from damaging the tool and will shutdown momentarily when needed. The selector switch on the side of the tool is convenient. It has three operating modes: hammer only, rotation drilling only or both hammer and rotation together. The switch also has a fourth option that allows you to adjust the tool and chisel angle to how you are working. Once you put the chisel in the unit with this option you can turn it so its comfortably positioned against the work. The extra large side grip is also fully adjustable 360 degrees so you can hold it exactly as you want to work without twisting your body that can cause later muscle soreness. A thoughtful idea instead of you twisting to fit the job, the tool adjusts to you instead. I used it as a chipper to try out on my neighbor’s garden wall since he couldn’t wait for me to get it. The ability to adjust the chisel made it a decided plus. The tool weighs a manageable ten pounds which was right for me and not cumbersome at all. This is a heavy duty tool and is up to tackling concrete and brick projects.

Haven’t used it but once for 1/4 inch holes in a concrete floor but did a good job. Most often will be 1/2 or 3/8 holes can’t wait to try it when it warms up around here. Drill is easy to use, ready to use out of the case just charge the batteries and your off. If I was able to use it more I’m sure it would be a 5 star rating

Great hammer drill. Lots of power and battery lasts very long. Only thing I didn’t like was the case. There is no room for any bits or chisels.

I live in a brick and cinderblock home so I use a hammer drill pretty often. This is a powerful drill that performs just as well or better than its corded siblings. I like corded as its one less thing to plug/unplug and the 9 amp/h batteries provide a great charge. My prior hammer drill was a corded one I borrowed from friend and this drill goes through concrete much faster. It is bulkier but powerful. The drill comes with three modes; drill, hammer drill (drilling in cement) and rotary hammer (chiseling away concrete/tile). The long-lasting batteries came in handy recently when I helped a friend remove a tile floor with a chisel. The vibration dampener (between the top of the handle and the drill) helps keep your hands from becoming too rattled when chiseling. The chiseling was not as powerful as my friend’s pneumatic hammer but still got the job done with relative ease. Next year I am ripping up the tile off my back patio and look forward to using this tool for the job.SDS bits are a little tricky to fix into the drill and I don’t like the idea of being “stuck” with just using SDS but I understand what makes the bits better. The case for the drill, charger and two batteries is pretty large, larger than a common suitcase, but it is nice you can keep everything in one spot. I like that it came with two batteries instead of one and that’s where you get a good value with this kit. I have a few other M18 tools and the batteries/chargers are great.
