Did a diving board demo, had to cut out 3/16″ solid steel, used the corded Milwaukee grinder (great tool btw)with steel cutting blade. As I was peeling back the solid steel peice by peice I was using this hammer to chip away at it. Used it on hammer mode with a point chisel and also a flat chisel. Also drilled some 3/4″ holes throughout to weaken the 50 year old concrete. Had the tool and battery out in the sun all day and using the tool continuously all-day with short breaks in between cutting the steel. Tool got hot but did not stop. It was good not to have to worry if you are damaging your tool when you push it to the limit like this, because it has shutoff features to protect the tool, which it didn’t do. I would recommend this tool to anyone that has demo jobs where a full size jackhammer would be hard to use, or just for stuff here and there. Definitely recommend having a few extra 9.0 batteries, the batteries last long but with the use I put it through it went through them, throughout the day. Overall great tool and impressed with the quality, durability and strength of Milwaukee tools.

This Milwaukee M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1-9/16 in. SDS-Max Rotary Hammer Kit is the tool only, meaning that it doesn’t come with a battery or charger. With a M18 High Demand 9.0 battery the hammer is very powerful and you won’t notice a difference in power to a corded version. A battery charge lasts about 15 -20 minutes of continuous hammering. That’s a good number, but I still recommend having a second battery on hand, depending on the size of your project.Charging takes somewhere between 30 – 60 minutes, I haven’t stopped the time exactly. The only disappointing point is that the tool doesn’t come with a case but rather only in a cardboard box.

its ok its not for big works

First time trying it was chipping out about 1’x4″ of 4″ concrete in 100+ heat, got way more than id have thought on one charge, switch out the battery to another 9.0 and the drill keeps shutting off. Redlithium battery protector at work, chipping hammers that are constantly working get hot in a hurry and take a long time to cool. Now i use it mainly for 2 other things, one I thought id never use it for. Drilling holes for half inch rebar in concrete and putting a clay spade on it and its the best time saver there ever was, no running coords, just bust up the hard dirt and scoop it out with a shovel, million times faster than a pick and the battery lasts days and never overheats when used here and there in this manner. Has saved me hours and hours of hand digging hard dirt.

Until now all SDS-Max Rotary Hammers were corded models. Milwaukee has changed that with the new M18 Fuel 18-Volt Cordless 1-9/16 in. SDS-Max Rotary Hammer. I was fortunate enough to receive this tool and have been testing it with various bits and attachments. When combined with the new Milwaukee 9 amp-hour lithium-ion battery, this tool truly provides corded performance. The Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1-9/16 in. Rotary Hammer includes a brushless motor that provides 5 ft-lbs of energy, and operates at 0-450 rpm and 0-3500 bpm. It includes a magnesium case and uses a slip-clutch to protect the tool from damage if the bit becomes pinned. It has a two modes of operation; hammer only and hammer with drilling. Chisels and other attachments can also be easily positioned and locked into place. An adjustable side handle is included to properly control the tool. At over 12 lbs (without battery), this is definitely a heavy tool. However, the weight adds to the sturdiness and ability to absorb shock from the hammering motion. On the negative side, there is no anti-vibration system. Without anti-vibration, I would not recommend this tool for tasks involving prolonged use in hammer mode. However, it is perfect for smaller jobs involving chipping or removing tile. It’s perfect for drilling large holes in concrete, driving grounding rods, or using a clay spade bit to dig holes in rocky soils. This is an expensive tool, but it’s very high quality and provides corded performance with the convenience of a cordless platform. It also comes with a 5 Year Warranty.

This is an extremely high quality & durable and solid product. The Hammer drill comes in a very heavy duty carrying case that is durable enough to be placed in a work truck or jobsite environment. The drill itself has a very heavy feel & but well balanced. I don’t think this drill is any heavy than other competitive sized models. The placement of both handles makes for a comfortable tool while in use. Having such a powerful tool without a cord is a huge convenience for jobs without a power source or generator. The tool has a small LED much like plenty of their other tools which is a nice little feature. It is very easy to switch between modes on the drill. The drill has a variable speed trigger which works great with the many different jobs that you can use the hammer drill on. This kit comes with two batteries and a charger. This is an extremely high quality product & definitely recommend!!

One of the biggest issues of working with concrete is available power to plug in a drill. This drill does everything and more of my large SDS electric rotary hammer drill. I’ve used a 1-3/4 SDS-Max bit and it tore through the concrete. I was shocked. The weight of the drill and battery helps perform heavy vertical drilling. The drill literally walks itself right through aged concrete,It handles very well, and the handle is very easily adjusted and strong yet not hard on the hands. It does take some effort to drill horizontally due to the weight, but it drills so much quicker you can take a breather sooner than anticipated. Positioning your body helps immensely with this. The adjustments from rotary hammer to just hammer is a cinch and the control is large enough you can use it with gloves. A huge plus! Changing bits is effortless and very decisive. You know when the chuck has grabbed the bit and it lets go when you release it. No fighting to insert or to release. The hammer only function with a chisel works as the next best thing to a jackhammer. I was pleasantly surprised. It will handle many projects which haven’t been possible without renting something bigger. It’s a great plus when you need to push a time table, or just need that little extra that other drills can’t provide. The case is enormous and handles everything and then some. I especially appreciate the included lubricant. The 9.0 AH batteries are out of this world period! I think the day is near to seeing the end of corded tools after using this drill and these batteries.

This is one of my most favorite tools I have ever purchased. Makes any type of digging way easier. Lot’s of power and lightweight compared to Harbor Freight corded versions.

Packaged in a large molded carrying case with two M18 Fuel 9.0 amp-hour batteries and charger, this rotary hammer incorporates an easily positioned (without the use of tools) auxiliary handle to steady and resist motion. The handle can be left on the tool, rotated to fit into the carrying case. A tube of grease is included for application to the shanks of the drill or chisel bits (SDS-Max). Interestingly, the tube of grease was the only location where I found the instruction to lubricate the bit “flutes” (failure to clean and lubricate will no doubt reduce the lifetime of the bits and the tool). There is sufficient room in the carry case for extra bits and chisels. Although provision for securing the case with a lock is provided, the plastic case could be easily compromised, but if you looped enough cable around it, it may be useful when in storage. The user manual recommends that every 6-12 months the tool be taken to a service center for lubrication and inspection. The batteries have a four element “fuel gauge” to indicate state of charge, and charging a fully discharged battery will take 30 to 150 minutes. The charger provided (which has provision for hanging on a vertical surface) has a port for differently configured M18 batteries in addition to the one for the batteries supplied. The charger incorporates protection against over charge, and charging when the battery is too hot or too cold. Status LEDs are provided to indicate when the battery is charging and how close to being fully charged it is. I haven’t had the tool long enough to fully discharge one of the batteries, but, when using a 3/4 inch masonry bit, was able to drill a nice clean hole through concrete in no time at all (using the hammer drill mode). a selector is provided to change from hammer/drill mode to hammer only (when using chisels for demolition). This same selector also allows one to rotate the orientation of the chisel for the most convenient “attack angle”. The batteries utilize Lithium Ion technology so, even though rated 18 volts, they pack a real punch. Care should be used though, when handling, storing or transporting the batteries to avoid damage. Although manufactured off-shore, quality seemed excellent and the performance was outstanding.

WOW, OMG, Fabulous. The M18 FUEL 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 1 9/16 in. SDS-Max Rotary Hammer Kit is so good, powerful, I kept forgetting it wasn’t a corded hammer kit. Easy fit chuck, 1 9/16 inch for the bit, chisels or percussion core bits. Great quality drill bits and accessories are a must as this is too powerful for poor quality bits. AWESOME…. Can not express how robust this is….

I use this tool inside and out where no power is readily available and have 5 9AH batteries and 3 quick chargers. This tool is a time saver and that equals money. This tool has more than paid for itself many times over. In my opinion it’s the best tool Milwaukee has ever produced. I love it!
