The saw is a little too big for my small hands. Good powerful jigger, good control, starting override….

Very excited about this cordless jigsaw. Milwaukee does it again and I am impressed with the power behind this tool. Cuts nice and smooth without any effort. Overall, I love the feel of this jigsaw in my hand. It is definitely ergonomic. The mold grip on top is easy to handle and provides great stability. This jig saw allows for dust collection which is a great additional feature. Highly recommend this jigsaw.

Milwaukee M18 Barrel Grip Jigsaw is another great product from Milwaukee. Will work with any M18 battery but if you do anyangle cuts, anything over the 5.0 can interfere With your cuts. Brushless and has orbital settings also. Has push slides on both sides to start and stop the blade. Push and hold for a sec or two to start it. However just a slight push will stop it quickly. Easily accessible from either side. Has a dial to select speed from low to high or“A” for automatic ramp up when it detects you’re starting the cut into materialHas a blower built in to blow away from your cutor can use the included section for hose attachment to vacuum the dust away. Also has anti splitting guard and a dust piece anduses only T shank jigsaw bits. Comfortable and has a little bit of weight to it. I love it and highly recommend it.

A great tool! Has better ergonomics over the traditional D-Handle type jigsaw. I only wish it had a variable trigger instead of the pull switches.

Great tool, I didn’t use the clear guard on the blade cause I could see my line for cut a lot better.

Feels like a corded jigsaw. It has plenty of power for whatever I put it through. Used it to do cuts for 800sq. ft. of laminate wood flooring, cutting a sink cut out on a formica countertop, some thin aluminum and other things. And it didn’t struggle with anything and cut really smooth when I turned. Feelsheavy duty and well balanced. The battery life is real good. I used it with a 5ah battery and never really ran out of juice in any application. It has some features I really liked, like power switch on both sides for right or left handed people, light to see cutting, blower to blow dust out of the way, attachment for vacuum, variable speed and other things. Blade change is nice and simple and never had a blade pop out. Only thing that kinda threw me off was to be so it you have to use a allen wrench to bevel the saw (not tool less). But it’s not that bad because it stores in the shoe of the saw nice and snug. Great tool and heavy duty quality. Must have for a pro. Good job Milwaukee.

Easy to set up and use. Functions as intended. Delay in on start switch allows time to set up in awkward positions. No tool blade installation. Could have gotten D handle version with free battery but I prefer this style of saw. Bulkier than my Hitachi 110v but much more refined. Coul benefit from fence and circle cutting attachments.

Cut in kitchen and bathroom sinks..Nothing but power!

Excellent tool! I purchased it for trim carpentry…coping cuts, scribe cuts, etc. The tool has all the corded power you’d need without the cords. This is just one of MANY Milwaukee M18 tools I have in my arsenal for homeowner projects.

This unit is shaped as a small tubular unit that is easily balanced when on a level service being used to cut through material. I found it to be heavy when first picking it up with the battery attached, but easily became accustomed to using it after a short time. The unit comes with a charger and two batteries, each battery staying in power for, on my uses, about an hour of intermittent cutting of plywood. The unit is easily configured with the attachments. The ability to direct the cut debris feature is great to clear a cutting line from sawdust debris. The light is a great feature.Drawbacks in that it does not come with a case to hold the pieces, and it requires different blade configuration from the older machines so new blade supply will be necessary.

I work construction & remodeling. My partner & I also do the finish carpentry. I bought the barrel rather than the D style because of its versatility to do coping. I use it all the time doing flooring, casing, baseboards, & coping crown moulding. It did take some ergonomic adjustment from the D style I’ve used for years. The fan that blows the dust away from the blade is the best feature! I no longer have to pause to blow debris away to see my marks. The dust tube fits great in the small M18 shop vac a co-worker owns, making cutting flooring much less messy. The shop vac is on my wish list for doing finish carpentry inside homes.

An excellent lightweight highly mobile jig saw. The barrel grip facilitates intricate work – and a wide range of speeds and oscillations makes cutting different densities and grain patterns a simple matter of selecting the right combination. A particular asset is the “A” mode where speed varies with blade face pressure… An M18 tool, this saw cuts far on a single charge. The T-slot blade locks securely with a quick lever push and a bonus feature is spring ejection of the old blade! Milwaukee brand blades are tough, but the T-slot is standardized to accept your Lenox / Morse / DeWalt and other blades. The sole cover is a nice touch; far superior to paste board and tape. I actually use it not to protect the work, but to protect the nice composition insert in the tool base from rough or rusty / scaly material I may cut. Unlike a D-handle jig saw with a bevel locking lever, a barrel jig saw requires bevel adjustment by inverting the tool and applying a hex key plus trial-and-error. Fortunately that is relatively infrequent. And the 5.0 Amp-hour battery limitation (for bevel work) is hardly an imposition unless you’re engaged in heavy production work. I did find the clear acrylic blade guard and splinter guard somewhat “fussy” to install. I don’t think i’ll be switching them in and out often. The work light is bright and convenient. The sawdust blower option works swell when you’re following a tracing; but the vacuum attachment is less secure than desirable. I like the automatic lock ON without continuous pressure – and the same switch (ambidextrous, at that) quickly engages OFF. The full 1-inch stroke clears sawdust very effectively and seems to reduce cutting time. With a low grip and its blade at the front end, there is very little tendency for the tool to overturn about the blade, making its use much more visible (hence more accurate) and less tiring. This tool is a great asset and a big gain in a tradesman’s comfort.

Powerful jigsaw that gets the job done but head to head with Makita it fell short (Full Video Review Below). I tested this Milwaukee in conjunction with the Makita barrel grip brushless jigsaw (XVJ01Z) and would rate this saw a C+. The Milwaukee has several nice features such as a switchable blower, and vacuum collection that the Makita lacks. The Makita is also priced 40% higher than the Milwaukee (at the time of this review). But the Makita provided better cuts, was lighter/shorter which made it easier to handle, and had a superior blade change mechanism. I should also mention that the Milwaukee saw blade chuck jammed and would no longer accept blades after just an hour of use. I also had a poor experience with the Milwaukee technical phone support. Fortunately Home Depot happily accepted a return (excellent service!) and provided me with a replacement. The second Milwaukee jigsaw also had a stiff blade chuck and I found it less than ideal to use (Makita was a breeze) but it never jammed like the first saw, making me think the first one was just a lemon. Bottom line if you already own Milwaukee tools this jigsaw is priced fairly and will get the job done. And is a nice addition. But it has room for improvement. About my rating:5 stars – Exceeds all expectations. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+). 4 stars – Nicely done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. (B)3 stars – Works as expected. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. (C).2 stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Pass and look elsewhere. (D)1 star – Fails miserably. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. Someone at the company should be fired. (F)

I have used this unit twice with generic blades installed and it has plenty of power and adjustability. I like the feel and control with this particular model. The variable speed and pitch adjustments make this unit worth the purchase. You can cut though plastic, metal, and many other types of material. I would recommend this tool for sure, another good tool for the M18 collection.
