I requested this product in the Seeds review program for use in my woodworking. I’m far too lazy to keep my vehicle clean and polished, so be aware of my use case when reading this review.Modern tools and batteries are so good that I mostly use cordless tools in my shop and around my home. While I have and appreciate Milwaukee tools this is my first M18 from them (I primarily use another brand). As such, I had to split my polishing up into two sessions because of the single battery. I used the polisher on walnut counter tops that I just built. After the glue-up I hand scraped them to get a subtle rustic look and feel and finished them with a urethane/varnish mix. Finally, I polished them with a liquid polish compound. The polisher is strong and has good trigger and speed control. I got excellent results with minimal effort. It was a bit fatiguing, due to the weight of the tool, but not too bad. I could probably even say that most of that fatigue was actually caused by countering the tool’s desire to pull away due to the friction of the polishing action. I will say that the tool is quite loud. Depending on the speed and resistance it emits a variable, high-pitched noise which can be unbearable without ear protection. If I were using the polisher daily I’d have to develop the habit of always using protection or it would cause hearing loss. As it was, I just suffered through it. The tool comes with two handles – a U handle and a straight handle. I ended up using the straight handle because I felt like it gave me better control. Changing handles over is a mild annoyance, requiring a large allen wrench. I feel like this polisher should come with some sort of a case or bag, especially because of the removable handles, so that you could keep everything together. Think of the charger and spare batteries. Speaking of spares, I would highly encourage you to have multiple batteries so that you can keep working. I had about 15 linear feet of counter top to polish and the battery died at about the half-way mark. I was polishing more aggressively and thoroughly than a typical car polishing session would be, I’m sure. I ordered a kit of colored pads for this project and used one pf the pads with a 3400 grit polish.I took one star off because of the painful noise.

Not sure yet my battery only last a short time when I try to use it.

First tool was DOA and poured smoke out of it the first time I used it. Replacement works great though.

being able to buff without having to throw cord over my shoulder in worrying about cord scratching the paint is a big relief!!thank you,

This is a great buffer. Much lighter that my old electric and plenty of power and speed adjustments.

One thing to be aware of is that even though it is pictured with a buffing pad installed, it does not come with one. If you read what is included, you will see this. My local Home Depot store only carried the elastic 6″ to 8″ multi-polisher ones. I could not find a listing for the loop and hook pads on the web site. The polisher does a nice job. I especially like the speed setting dial. The trigger only controls off and on, while a dial with rpm markings controls the speed. So you don’t have to worry about burning a finish by running the buffer too fast, or exceeding the rpm rating of the pad/bonnet.I like having a choice of handles. I normally use the top handle, but the side handle is handy as well. You can use it on the left or right side, just like an angle grinder.I find that it does a good job on my SUV, and I have even used it to wax the table of my table saw before putting it away until the weather cools off again. The bonnet instructions say they will also work on wood floors. I can not picture doing the entire floor this way, but I will try it on polishing wood projects. It should cut down the time needed for a really nice shine.

Admittedly, I’ve never really been one to keep the finish on my vehicles maintained to the extent that they should be, but with the freedom from an extension cord that this great new Milwaukee polisher provides, I now have absolutely no excuse. I gave my wife’s Mustang a full polish this weekend with it, and it was a joy to use. With her finish being in pretty good shape, one full 5.0 battery was more than enough to give it a nice shine. The box states that one fullsize car can be done on a charge, but there is a footnote that that is with it having moderate to good paint, with only light scratches. A tool of this nature does use a lot of power, which is as to be expected, and full-on buffing of a severely-neglected finish may be better suited to a corded model. For maintenance polishing, this tool is awesome.

I’m an automotive painter who got tired of dragging a corded buffer around the shop. I can also use it out on the parking lot. No need to bring the car into the shop. I have a tool bag with all my buffing supplies as well as buffer. I love this buffer. It’s light, lasts a long time, and it’s quiet. I can wetsand and buff a whole hood on a little more than one battery (I have three batteries). That’s compound, swirl remover, then polish. Most buffing jobs though are small areas and the battery will last all day. To complement this buffer get the Milwaukee mini M12 buffer as well for denibbing.

I restore cars so I sand and buff complete paint jobs. It’s very time consuming. If you want this buffer for large jobs like that then don’t bother. If you have a car that you want to shine up once a year or if you do detailing work this may work for you. It’s not cut out for heavy buffing like I need a buffer for.

This is a great tool for any car buff out there, and yes, pun intended. I had never gone to great extent to clean my truck prior to owning this as I didn’t feel it was all that necessary, and I thought it would take forever. I can’t believe how shiny my truck is now, I managed to buff out a majority of the swirl marks that had been on my truck and I added a coat of car wax. My truck has a mirror like finish to it now, though it won’t last very long. Having such a large vehicle I was worried that the battery would not last, but I was able to finish it with one battery on a single charge.I did need to buy a buffing pad, along with some other tools before starting including the wax and a clay bar. I spent a good 3 hours going through the entire process of cleaning, using a clay bar, buffing out the swirl marks and polishing with a high gloss wax. I doubt I’ll ever go through this on a regular basis, but maybe a few times a year to keep my trucks coat healthy. The tool itself is very easy to use and its easy to control the speed as well. Even with the battery in the tool is still under 7 pounds which makes it very easy to use for extended periods of time. It comes with a 5-year warranty as most of my other Milwaukee tools have so I know they have me covered for any product defects.

Lots of power! I love it over a corded polisher. I used with 4.0 xc batteries run time about 15-20 min on a charge. I have 5 batteries and 2 chargers from other fuel tools I have. I would get the 6.0 or 9.0 batteries for longer run time.

I wasn’t sure about this item at first. It only comes bare tool with no battery and no accessories (buffer pads or other). The unit is solid and well built. I love the multispeed option on the handle to adjust the speed. It is not light but not too heavy and compares well with my old corded unit. I have only used it once but I loved it. I did my whole SUV in one charge although the battery was spent as expected at the end. Most of us have more than one battery so that is not a challenge. I love this unit and look forward to many more uses.

I’ve used a bunch of polishers in my day. Over the past forty-five years, I’ve probably tried every brand and type out there. This is my new favorite. The controls are right where they should be… within easy reach. The trigger is smooth and there is no jerky start up. It’s all smooth sailing. The entire tool is balanced, especially if you take the extra minute to install the loop handle attachment. I REALLY like the loop handle because it allows you to change hand position frequently and that means less fatigue and strain. It also makes it much easier to get to those hard to reach spots up high and down low. Those new batteries Milwaukee has are incredible! This tool never bogged down during and entire forty minute buffing and polishing session. When I checked the “fuel gauge” it said I still had two bars left! If you worked with corded polishers before you know half the battle is managing the cord. You have to flip it over your shoulder to prevent it interfering with the work. You have to drag the cord while holding the tool to change areas. Those actions become habitual and I never really thought about them until I used this cordless machine. All those nuisance actions disappear and make the job SO much more fun. If you do your own washing and waxing, or if you want fast smooth all-pro results on weekend woodworking projects… get this thing. It’s awesome!

good speed selection has plenty of power batteries last longer than i thought. But i did down size the back plate to 6 inch polishes like a beast. Light weight even with battery installed.

Tool was easy to assemble, just the handle and backing pad wheel.bought the pads at my local automotive paint supply store. The variable speed polisher was more than up for the task!
